In short it mentions that Ford (international) lost $16.4 Billion
Aussie Dollars being over $2k per car produced.

I havent got a clue about Huge businesses (Even though I do own and
advise SME'S) but how does it seem even remotely possible for such a
large business to go so far in the red...

Funny how they sacked poor old Aussie Jac to bring in a family member
and the problem gets worse.

No wonder they want to sell of Aston Martin and perhaps Jaguar..

Ford CEO says Jaguar not for sale
Mon Jan 8, 2007 10:49 AM GMT25
By Poornima Gupta

DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford's British luxury division Jaguar is not for
sale, Chief Executive Alan Mulally said on Sunday.

"Jaguar is not for sale at this time," Mulally told reporters on the
sidelines of the North American International Auto Show.

"We really like the progress Jaguar is making both on the product side
and on their quality and productivity," he said. "They are on a really
good positive business improvement plan."

Mulally, who replaced Bill Ford Jr. as CEO in September, had earlier
declined to rule out the sale of money-losing Jaguar and other premium
brands in its portfolio.

Ford, which is in the midst of its third restructuring in five years, has
said its British sports car unit Aston Martin was for sale. But analysts
are keen to see the company sell Jaguar.

Jaguar managing director Bibiana Boerio said she is focused on
resurrecting Jaguar's vehicle line-up and does not worry about a possible
sale of the company.

"I don't spend a minute a minute worrying about that," she said. "I can't
control it. Ford will take the action it needs to take." Continued...

A lot of yanks buy them.
However, I don't think they will sell this one:

What a stupid thing to do, attach a car to the back of a truck and take
off! If it had been under it's own power, behind the truck, it would have
been okay!

It's a common movie stunt practice.

I saw the clip on the news not long ago, and it was a nothing event.

We can put that under the heading of "Odd Decisions". Although it will
have to be Very Odd to beat the all time champion, GM's decision to pay
$2 billion NOT to buy a stake in Fiat. I still can't work that one out.

True although it might have been a little bigger if you were one of the guys
clinging to the roof etc.

Jaguar could be a volume seller if they got in some savvy people to get
costs down, but retain the uniqueness of the car. Here in the sticks you see
the odd Rover and MG. Not bad looking cars with scmick looking interiors.
Can be done if they tried.

Hi Jason,

You are correct :-)
I've said it before to the Jaguar dealers, build a car without out all
the silly "add on's", and it would sell. They put far to many gimmics in
them. Jaguar have done it before, I have a 1974 XJ6 with wind up windows
:-). It is basic, leather, wood and all that crap, with just air
conditioning as an accessory.

Could perhaps be a tad late for MG..

They closed down 2 years ago.

It is interesting that the all new 2008 Jaguar will depart from the
styling of all previous jaguars to be "more americanized" Id say they
will drop their old faithful customers and hope to pick up a new bunch
who is currently buying Lexus.

Cant see it working, Toyota has a gret name in quality control, Jaguar
unfortunately doesnt.

(Yes I own 2 Jags so am biased)

yes, and she also killed Jon Benet Ramsey, and doesn't have an alibi for
the night Princess Diana was executed by agents, because she was
pregnant with Al-Fayed's child. And she doesn't shave her armpits.

Not that I consider it (religion) to be particularly enlightening, it's
somewhat ironic that you call something else stupid, in a post where the
grammar, sentence structure; in fact, the whole post, is so poor that
it's full meaning is absolutely unclear.
