what exactly do you mean here? fuel and gas is a 24/7 delivery service in
major cities and in most country towns.

youd be talking about independent servos then, all the majors
(bp/mobil/caltex/shell/united) have their fuel delivered direct from the
refinery (or a pipeline depot ala silverwater/banksmeadow in sydney)
straight to the servo in the country. it costs more becuase of the kms and
time taken by the truck. as an example a cootes driver in sydney will
regularly do 4 full loads into servos in a 12 hour shift locally, but only
one and sometimes over two days a load out to the bush. so the price is
reflected by a several cents increase to cover operating expenses.

the distributor in the case of fuel in sydney makes 3/10ths of fuck all
these days, the govt makes the most profit out of anyone by a long margin. I
work for Cootes carting LPG and having seen the margins we get to play with,
if a driver added half an hour onto his shift time that would be enough to
remove any margin for that days work per driver. so about 15 bucks per
driver logically is their margin, you cant exactly say theyre raking in the
cash. (bearing in mind LPG is more profitable than fuel also, and you can
see how narrow it is)
