Hi
One of my Omni DX-4200's has started doing the load thing for about a minute or two, and then coming up with no disc. It does this with all disc types.
I took the lid off and had a look at what was going on, and it spins the disc, but not real fast. I can see the laser trying to read the disc near the center, and if I stop it and gently move the laser carriage towards the outside of the disc, and try again it goes back to near the center where the TOC would be.
I,m wondering if it should spin up faster, or do they always go fairly slow?
Any help from the experts out there would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like the loader is starting to fail, is it still under warranty?

I wouldn't think so,
I've had it for at least 2 years now.
Would the loader be replaceable with something generic?

Any ideas of what I should do next. I don't really want to bin it. It's a really good machine when it's working.

Disassemble the player as much as you need to find the model number of the loader. Google this info and you'll get an idea of what your chances are of obtaining either a replacement laser assembly or a complete loader.
Unfortunately I suspect parts will be expensive, hard to find or both... :(

Thanks for the advice
I took the loader out, and I could just make out a number on it 10120412 also the laser assembly has 4H04094926D91200W on it. Googled those, with no luck.
Might just have to give up and replace it with one of those new Srathfield mediatek ones. I was just put off a bit about those by them not being able to random play DVD's full of Mp3's, as I do that quite a bit.
Thanks anyway

I just put the loader back in, so that it would all be back where it belongs before I consigned it to the junk cupboard, and I thought I'd just give it another try before putting the lid on, and I could see straight away that it spun the disc up heaps faster than it was doing before, also it soon finished the load thing on the flourescent display this time.
So I hooked it all back up to it's TV, and lo and behold it's working fine again.
Don,t know what I did to deserve it, or if it will last, but for now I'm a happy chappy.
Methinks it must have been not spinning fast enough before, maybe the spin motor playing up, or does it have some kind of speed controller.
The ribbon cables were in all the way, so I don,t think that there was a connection problem there.
Just have to see how it goes.
Cheers
