Sounds like your dvd player has macrovision kicking in while going through the video player, and your T.V is going to blue screen as soon as it loses a signal.
Check http://www.vcdhelp.com to see if they have a macrovision disable for your player. If they don't, just plug it into another AV in on the TV.
Being a rear projection, I'm sure it will have S-video, if not componant, either will have a great picture improvment over having it run through the VHS.

Ok so is it blue screen all the time, no matter what you watch, be it tv, video etc. or is it only blue screen while you watch dvd's?
Just trying to pinpoint the problem.

My Amp has the tv,video, dvd,cd,all connected, the vcr has to be on to have the sound comes through the speakers, that's when the blue screen when come on for about 5 seconds,it's intermittent as sometimes it won't happen for ten mins, but if I just watch the tv without the rest on and no sound from the stereo speakers it doesn't get the blue screen, hope this helps, keith
