Hi may dad owns a 1988 Toyota Hilux 3 litre diesel. He has just
replaced the timing belt and is wondering how to make the tming light
turn off. In earlier models there has been a button or switch on the
dash to press and it resets. There is nothing like this that we can
find. Does anyone know what to do??

1988, or 98?, 88 it's certainly there on the gauge cluster.
between the speedo and tacho, with a small rubber insert.

1998, 5L engine?, I'd have to look for a manuel which
is somewhere on CD if I could fecking find it. Selling
house ATM, so that would be interesting.

It will probably be the same as the 100 series cruiser
you use the "Trip Meter" button
you turn off the key, hold in the button while turning the key on and
hold the button for about 5 seconds and then I forget
but it gets you into the timing belt mode where you have to set the klms
in 50,000klm steps(and it's done using 5,10,15 etc. where 5 = 50,000klms
once set you just hold the button for a few more seconds to exit
