 im considering buying one these 4 channel AV A/v selectors switches. It is a Fully Electronic Audio/ Video Selector. It has 4 video and 4 stereo audio inputs that can be switched to Dual Outputs, eg. TV & Projector
The model also has S-Video sockets, so if you are running DVD player or Digital Camcorder which have a S-Video Socket they will connect directly to the unit.

i have a austar box ,dvd recoder and a set top box that are attached to the plasma tv. the set top box is causing some problems. would this device allow me to watch all stations, austar normal tv, digital tv through the dvd recorder, and then be able to record any program?
thanks

Your info is a little sparse but if you are talking about routing several devices through a switcher and feeding the output of the switcher to the input of a DVD recorder and then through to a TV then yes, this would allow you to record any of the inputs to the DVD recorder

Connect the DVD recorder to the TV on say AV1. Then run the Austar box to AV1 on the DVD recorder and the STB on AV2 on the DVD recorder and watch everything through the DVD recorder to the TV. Means you will always need the DVD recorder on to watch Austar + the STB but then at least you can record what ever you want.

ie tv on av1 & DVD recorder on AV1 = Austar
tv on av1 & DVD recorder on AV2 = STB

When you prush record what ever you are watching on the tv will be recorded.

Dont need a switch box.

Cheers
