I was in HMV today and they have a special on at the moment for 2 DVD's for $40, some of the titles include - The Last Seduction, Malcolm, Pi, Shallow Grave, Cyrano De Bergerac, Once Were Warriors, Trainspotting, The Beach, Arlington Road.

They had others also, but the above lot is pretty good for $20 a DVD!

Oh and I'd like to thank Watcher again for this new forum!! Fabulous idea, lets all support this new forum with all your specials and bargains!!

:D

Just another note to HMV, if you are a student (part time will do) you can get a 10% off discount card for free.

The card expires March 2003 and you can use it unlimited. Discount applies even to "2 for $50" deals, but not for individual sale items.

BTW, not only for DVD but also music CDs / soundtracks...etc.

A lot of places have implemented the "2 for $40" and "2 for $50" as of late. It's more to do with the studio's listing the specials and the businesses complying (usually).

Anyway, I visited Myer on sunday (Known as Grace Bros. to some), and scored Bad Boys CE and Tomcats as part of the 2 for $40, and a really cheap Psycho (1998).

Thing is, Myer also had a promotion on where you buy 3 discs or more and you get 15% off. This does not apply with any other offer (IE: 2 for $40).

However, due to some smooth talking by myself :D, I scored the discount and ended up paying the following for new DVDs:

Bad Boys CE: $17
Tomcats: $17
Psycho (1998) $12.21

And with all these savings, I thought "Screw it" and bought:

Goonies: $21.21

Ya gots to be impressed with that :D :D :D

Most of which were covered by some Myer Gift Vouchers my mate got from work and doesn't want, so I ended up paying a whole $20 cash for 4 discs!!!!!!

One thing that irks me about these 2 for $x is that you almost always only seem to find just one title you are after

Tomcats, oh my Mr Macabre you must be starved of some dvd entertainment ;)

Those "2 for $50" deal usually means $23.99 each in K-Mart or Target. (They do sell separately)

You couldn't be more right, DVD Fan.

I had grabbed Bad Boys, as it is a great flick and I didn't expect it to be so cheap, but then found that I needed to find another title, or I'd have to pay about $37. With that in mind, I had to choose between either Hollow Man or Tomcats.

I made my decision and I stand by it. ;)

FYI; Myer supposedly doesn't sell separately as they both scanned in at their RRP's :o.

Thought I'd check out HMV.com.au, and ended up buying Goodfellas & Desperado.

Also probably gonna go halves with DVD Fan on another 2 for $40, as I've compared prices and it seems that a lot of these $20 films are $30+ at other online stores!
