dvd unlocking code

I bought a Hitachi dvp788A and I cannot play any rental dvds. Does anyone know the region unlocking code?

That is very weird, where did you buy it from and where are you renting the discs?
They should both be region 4.
Contact the supplier is usually your best bet, but you might find the code listed at www.videohelp.com

Maybe there is something wrong with it though, if it was bought in Aus, it should play any disc that you rent, as they should also be region 4.

I discovered it is a Russian DVD player and set for region 2. Quite problematic, I have just returned it to place of purchase for a region 4 player.

yep! had to translate web pages through Alta vista Bablefish. I couldn't find any english sites.
