went into a Strathfield store today after seeing a catalouge in todays paper, one tiny section I almost missed "all dvd's 50% off"

they had about 200 titles I guess, grabbed some recent releases for half price, worth a look for anyone that has a Strathfield store nearby

Sounds like Strathfield must be quitting the DVD Game.

I don't blame them. I dont' know why smaller businesses / franchises bother trading in DVD's when any Joe can just walk down to a K-Mart (Preferably during a 15% off sale :)) and get titles close to cost.

Was at the Artarmon store today, all their prices are 50% off RRP. Most are between $15 - $20.

There were a few good titles available, Hunt for Red October ($17), Usual Suspects ($17) etc.

No really recent releases but if you wanted to stock up on a few you may have missed, there were plenty.

So I got to Straithfeld Brunswick store at 5.50pm last night and they had already closed, [closing time is listed as 6pm] I asked if I could have a quick look to see what they had and the salesman at the door says sorry I can't but we are open at 8.30am tomorrow morning

So at 10am this morning a friend and I went to the store and checked out the dvds [I had a plan], he picked a few for himself and I whispered to put Rated X [$10] and Batman Forever [$15] in his pile and i'll pay him later. Ithen randomly selected 10 titles and we both went to the checkout

He paid first and then after they rung mine up I said, damn I left my wallet in my friends car and told the sales person we will be back in 5 minutes and I walked out with a smile on my face and didnt return

Let that be a lesson to Stathfield as a person who has worked in customer sales they were lousy and dont get me started on Kmart Brunswick Audio/Visual Department :)

Some of the titles I saw were American Beauty, Superman 1 and 2, Jaws 2-4, Pleasantville, Forrest Gump to name a few

You're so evil, boyee :p

I can just imagine the strathfield checkout guy as the pubescent teen from the simpsons, stating in his high pitched voice after a long wait "I Don't Think He's Coming Back!"

I'm missing the point here I think, are you saying that you walked out with 10 discs without paying? Maybe i'm reading it wrong

No, he got his friend to buy the DVD's he wanted.

He then selected 10 DVD's and went to buy them, but "forgot" his wallet, saying that he would be back in a minute, leaving the clerk waiting for him to return, then realising he wasn't returning theyhad to put back all the DVD's on the shelf. dvdfan wasted their precious time and counter space :D

They would have been cursing you too dvdfan, serves them right. I have had a few good experiences at Strathfield, but generally speaking they are useless, think they know everything, but don't and are rude about it.

I hardly think that they would be crying over someone that didn't come back to buy something that said they would, happens all the time anyway. I guess dvdfan got a laugh out of it

No wonder they're clearing their DVD stock then.

With prices like those, the cases must've been covered with dust.
