....I'm sick of hearing about Cousins - I do actually prefer watching
football to this serious issue.

Well... I shared the view that the Saints would take a while to
learn the new style of their new coach. Now it turns out they seem
to be suddenly very hard-nosed at useful points of the game - a bit
like Sydney, but with Koschitzke, and their own crazy, well aged,
very strong, surprisingly quick forward, with the same hairstyle (or
at least amount...)

Well, not really hard like Sydney, but quite useful, certainly.

I think they could perform well and be one of about four to five
teams in it this year - West Coast, Fremantle, Sydney, Western
Bulldogs... and maybe St Kilda.

Anyway, who's hoping to see Headland actually play a decent game
next week? Who really, really wants to see that? Port supporters
excluded, of course.

(I quite like Headland, and am sick of him playing some appallingly
bad games.)

demons were terrible.

saints just average. Missing hamil and Rooey in the forward line.
Rucking was better but rovers a let down.

yeah...i need to redo that ladder prediction...saints were about as
good as i expected (which is just good but not good enough to
challenge for the flag)...melbourne were crap...i had them as the best
of the vic teams but they didn't even look like finals material last
night

It's an odd year.

Ah, a glorious celebration of incompetence and lack of depth.
Listening to it is surprisingly painful.

Wasn't that bad to watch, surprisingly.

Can't wait for Gieschen to say the umpiring was "better than average",
though. A couple shockers to hand over the game at the end...

(Actually, since they've got so many umpires injured at present, I
doubly wouldn't expect the maker of the really obvious error to get
"sent to the bush".)

did anyone see that demon player kick the ball (from behind the goals)
into the point post, and instead of the ump calling it out-on-the-full,
he replayed kick.

he was telling the st.kilda player..."I know the rules".

Anyone have a link to the rules of the game?. Current AFL site is shite!

Ump was 100% correct

16.4 DISPOSAL BY A DEFENDING PLAYER - GOAL LINE
AND BEHIND LINE

d. if the defending Player, in disposing of the football, hits either
the goal or behind post, the Player shall be given the football
again to recommence play.

*cough* It was - Port kicked long with the breeze and played smart footy for the second half to steal the game.

I was watching the Freo of 5 years ago, I'm sure I was....
