fast idle on falcon ute

Hi all

A mate of mine has a 4 ltr falcon ute ,when he stops the engine idles fairly
quickly for about a minute then drops to about 1200 rpm for about 20 seconds
then returns to normal idle speed .any ideas on what might be wrong .

There's an idle speed control valve on top of (or beside depending on the
model) the throttle plate, and they gum up with carbon & other crap.

Remove it, pull it apart and clean it and it should be fine.
