I might have to take a trip to SA with my empty softdrink bottles to buy one
of these beauties.

I thought I'd better reply to this because nobody else has. It must
be really embarrassing when you continually start new threads, and
nobody replies to them, hey DAVO? If it wasn't for me replying to
them to make you feel better, you'd probably top yourself. What a
waste.

Not at all, it just simply shows this place is now full of deadbeats and
troublemakers like yourself. Once, posts like mine used to get many
interesting discussions going but now most of those who read them are just
more satisfied to email me and keep their comments confidential for fear of
being blasted by arseholes of your ilk. I think you should feel very proud
of yourself you idiotic moron, because through your rubbish you go on with,
newsgroups are becoming a place for wankers.

one problem, its rated at only 700 lumens, getting 16 foot lamberts on a

It's also known as the DLA-RS1 in the UK
It just received their Editor's Choice award - you can read their review

HD1 is an excellent projector but projectorcentral's review were exactly

Had a pretty extended viewing session with one of these on Saturday arvo.
http://www.sony.com.au/homecinema/catalog/product.jsp?categoryId=22033
Very film like picture with beautiful rendering of the colours with solid
blacks and tonal range.
Well set up in the venue by someone who obviously knew what they were doing.
Pretty impressive and so, so quiet too. :-)

Cheers,

Mmmmmm................. interesting, the link *should* be
for a VPLVW100 (Top of the range) but it goes to VPLHS60
which is just a cheap average projector. Alan was looking
at the VPLVW100. And how do I know that? Well I bought the
receiver it was connected to ;-)

BTW I concur with Alan's opinion that this is really a very
good projector and the JVC will have to be something very
special indeed. So hopefully for us, the consumers, this
should start a price war ;-)

I agree, the prices will only get better for us. The JVC is only 700 Lumens
which probably helps it's Black levels and in the average HT, it should be
ample. I am currently running a Panasonic W700 or some model name like that
and it is only 1,000 lumens. This is ample for my local watering hole to
fill a 20ft screen on the last 2 series of State of Origins. I have received
many favourable comments from the patrons about the brilliant quality and it
cost me less than $3,500 3 years ago.

Did you buy that at the same time as you bought the battery charger
for your steady-cam? It's just that if you did, perhaps you need to
re-calculate what each item cost. You MAY have paid too (2) much for
one item, and not enough for the other. This may be important once
tax time comes around. Oh that's right, you didn't earn enough last
year to justify paying tax, did you DAVO?

Keep wishing moron, but perhaps instead of JUST wishing that you
earned enough to pay tax, it'd be better if you actually DID something
about it. Perhaps you could start by getting a job and stop relying
on Carmel's income to subsidise your 'business' that we both know is
never going to get off the ground and be profitable.

D'ya think??
ComparingThe two projectors to which you refer, above is hardly a very
useful exercise, as the RRP of one is AU$ 3,499 the VPLHS60, whereas
the VPLVW100 is AU$14,999! So one would, reasonably expect the more
expensive unit to out perform the cheaper one significantly and you
might consider that it does, but in my experience it is not really as
far ahead as would justify the large price difference.

Some months ago I experienced a side-by-side comparison of the
SONYVPLVW100 and the Panasonic PT AX100 projectors and I considered
that the Panasonic performed quite a bit better than the Sony , and
given that The recommended price of the Panasonic was $3,299, and it
can be had for somewhat less than this with some negotiation it would
seem that the Panasonic offers far better value with the added bonus
that it is NOT a SONY!
As usual, anyone planning the purchase of an HT projector should do
the search and comparison thing diligently.
Kind Regards
Dr Patric Scully

: D'ya think??

Yes, I think the VPLVW100 is a very good projector and
absolutely sh**s all over my VPLVW11

: ComparingThe two projectors to which you refer, above is
hardly a very
: useful exercise,

Sorry Patric but we never compared the projectors at all. I
went to buy a Sony STRDA5200ES receiver and the VPLVW100 was
connected to it and the receiver's upscaling was demoed on
this. That's all. My comments were in regards to the JVC's
specs and price point.

as the RRP of one is AU$ 3,499 the VPLHS60, whereas
: the VPLVW100 is AU$14,999! So one would, reasonably expect
the more
: expensive unit to out perform the cheaper one
significantly and you
: might consider that it does, but in my experience it is
not really as
: far ahead as would justify the large price difference.
:
The JVC is $9995 and being their flagship model a comparison
is justified. I will now have to go and find one to demo
;-)

: Some months ago I experienced a side-by-side comparison of
the
: SONYVPLVW100 and the Panasonic PT AX100 projectors and I
considered
: that the Panasonic performed quite a bit better than the
Sony ,

Mmmmm..... the Panny is only a 780 native pixel resolution
and you are saying it is/was better than a native 1080 pixel
resolution? I wish to call into doubt the methods used for
comparison? ;-)

and
: given that The recommended price of the Panasonic was
$3,299, and it
: can be had for somewhat less than this with some
negotiation it would
: seem that the Panasonic offers far better value with the
added bonus
: that it is NOT a SONY!

Ahhhhh..... Now you've hit the nail on the head. I dislike
Sony intensely *BUT* I seem to be accumulating more of their
products of late. I just hope I never have to use the
warranty ;-)

: As usual, anyone planning the purchase of an HT projector
should do
: the search and comparison thing diligently.

Absolutely, 110% agree and recommend that also. I have been
waiting for flat panel displays to reach 80"+ with 1080p
capabilities before taking another plunge into projectors
BUT this Sony VPLVW100 blew me away and I am now
reconsidering.

: Kind Regards
: Dr Patric Scully

I am still running a Sony VPLVW11 that was bought on special

BTW the next $1,000 bulb it blows it will be retired.
