Man, why are you crossposting to a depression group. Sure you may be
depressed, but what do they know about bio-diesel over there...
Have you ever thought of going to a Mitsubishi support group? :)

No wonder you are depressed! I had to pick up a windsurfing board in
Bondi once and trying to find anywhere to park in those ridiculously
crowded streets was pretty 'not-fun'. How do people cope with that?
I can't handle the idea of having to look for a spot and not having
the car within a few metres of the house. Move to the suburbs... no
not Dubbo.
On the depression front, have you tried going to the gym or doing some
intense exercise? I know for me the effect of going to the gym
repeatedly seems to make it addictive. I know it has something to do
with the body producing some chemicals in response, although I can't
think of what they are called at the moment... At the end of the day
you are either feeling better or are too tired to be depressed.
Dale.

Not in my area.
Residents here are issued with a permit label for their windscreens, and if
it ain't fitted you get a ticket.

Why should I fit it, I'm registered to have one? same goes for
rego labels. I paid for it.
I've logged a compaint, given details, so it will be all
over I guess. Not right. I'll be expecting a sorry letter
in the mail that won't happen.
I've also made a decision not to go to my main local
area shopping suburb any more, selling house too,
which is difficult (geee wonder why?!?!) Become
****ing shite.

If I pay around $9000 per year in taxes,
and am intitled, I'm taking it to court.

Paying for your rego is only half the legal requirement. Attaching the label
to your vehicle is the other.
As far as parking permits go, none of the parking officers in my area have
access to valid permit holding vehicle lists while they're out issuing
tickets, and the onus is on the permit holder to display the permit to avoid
being booked. If you can't be ****ed taking five minutes to attach a label
to your windscreen you deserve the ticket in my opnion.
I should add that the permits are free in my area (Hobsons Bay, VIC) and
they allow residents to park freely at metered shopping and beach areas.
Regular resident parking permits for street parking aren't required.

Expensive little items here.
I have one.
You missed the point that police can do rego checks any which
way they please. Look up the registered owner sure they can,
when they *need* too.
I'm developing a fairly bitter attitude to attached lables.
If I pay pay around $9000 in taxes and rates (on top of what I
earn) I really dont expect to be sticking little lables on.

Of course they can, but that doesn't remove the fact that it's law to
display a valid registration label.
> I'm developing a fairly bitter attitude to attached lables.
I don't care about them one way or the other. I'm just thankful that I live
in a nice area where you don't need to pay to park in your own street.

Expect all you like (or not as the case may be), but paying taxes doesn't
exclude you from official procedure, nor will it exonerate you from the
fines your actions may bring.
I mean, not fitting a rego label is hardly a criminal offence, but it's a
technicality that can earn you an on the spot fine. If you're willing to
risk that in an act of defiance that will mean absolutely nothing to the
copper writing out the ticket then be my guest.
Incidentally, I think land tax absolutely sucks, and I fully understand your
plight. My own bill is fairly extreme, and I get absolutely nothing in
return for it like most people.

That occurs to me also. But what occurs first is the fact that the earth is
not overpopulated. There is still far more acreage on earth where there are
no people than where there are. There are more than enough food and
resources for the current population, and far more, also. They are just
mismanaged.
It is our tendency to crowd together that makes the world seem
overpopulated.

I agree with you. Why should they create another "gotcha" situation by
requiring you to attach a label? Its another way of collecting
revenue. Comply or your wallet cops a beating. Nothing more than
standover tactics by councils using the same type of tricks as the
mafia used to use.
And I mean this. You are allowed access to your own home and parking
areas. Like hell you are. Show me your ticket first. Next they will
be charging you for them.
Kick up a ruckus and fight the heavies. Make them earn their dollars,
and huge super payouts.

Take a look at:
http://www.census.gov/main/www/popclock.html
For the US alone, that has grown by 1.5 million people in
the last few months.
Just like mice/grasshopper/whatever plagues, the outcome
is not gunna be good for folk, might take a few more years,
however not good.
I'm going to make a selfish statement here: I want areas I
can go to (that are not desert) and not see another person
for a week or more, or have a housing estate built next
to me.
I have a difficult time understanding what will happen to
this planet, but it will happen.
Think what a single person needs through their entire life
in resources and goods.
What I am seeing is more rules/restrictions come
into place. I'm wondering for the moment when actually
have to start culling people, or bring in one child type
laws.
I'd prolly volunteer, as might a lot of others,
so might be self controlling process.
If in my local area on a weekday, the place is
unusable because I can't drive there, because
everyone else already has, and I'm paying the
taxes for it... there is something wrong.
I've thought today that a better parking process
might be to use electronic tags, (or an extension
to E-Toll tags). Linked to a database of the vehicles
rights and rego location, however at no time
indicate who was driving the vehicle (I don't
like big bother stuff). In this way could have
any number of things, such as stolen vehicle
location, parking rights, length of time, etc.
Would not want it fully automated, just the parking
dude walking along with a hand held gadget that
went "beep" and brought up the offense. All possible.
While ever the rego plates are visable, I can't
see that sort of stuff as a problem.
