The Epica will be the first car ever to come with a MONEY BACK
GUARANTEE. 30 days or 1500km whichever comes first. If a customer
buys the Epica instead of a Camry or whatever and they aren't happy
with the car within that period they get a full refund on their
purchase. Yes, there are a few conditions but they are not
unreasonable. The customer has to have proof of purchase of an
alternative vehicle of at least the same value purchased within that
period (otherwise people would just buy the car and use it for 30 days
instead of a hire car or such)and the car must be in original
condition less any natural wear. A money back guarantee on a car
should put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Take it back and only pay for the kms yourve travelled! I heard that its
something like 40cents per km once it leaves the lot, Id rather hire one to
start with then eh.

One thing Holden has always been good at is marketing and this appears
to be another good marketing idea to sell a car made in Korea.
They had to find a way of overcoming the perception that being a Daewo
its going to be a POS.

That sounds like an amazing offer until you stop and think that you need
to have proof of purchase of an alternate vehicle. If they accept
placing a deposit on an alternative car that would be one thing. Proof
of payment might also mean you need to have paid for the replacement in
full.

I don't think anyone would buy one if they had enough $$$$ to afford to buy
a second car of equal or greater value in order to claim the refund. Does
this refund include the rip-off dealer delivery charges?

its because the epica is a complete rubbish

Good use of the English language.

This could be a turning point for the Australian motor industry. How nice would it be to get your new car, find some things wrong with it, and simply return it to the place of purchase? I would imagine a conversation something like:
Buyer: "You delivered my car dirty and scratched, and it has a rattle - I'd like a new one please".
Dealer: "We'll fix the one you've got".
Buyer: "You know what? I've decided I don't like my new car, and am off to the dealership up the road..."
Dealer: "We have blue, red and silver in stock, which would you prefer?"

I love a buyers market!

That's an excellent point, and one which Holden is banking on as making sure
very few people actually claim a refund.

Offering a refund on the proviso that you hate the thing so much that you've
gone out and bought something else is a bullshit scam that will mean nothing
to no one.
