SYNOPSIS:

Be warned! For those that don't know who Tom Green is, he is someone who has made a living by performing idiotic, vulgar and over the top acts on television to get a laugh.
Freddy Got Fingered is his chance to do more of the same on the big screen.
In this movie, Tom Green plays Gord Brody, an immature 28 year old that leaves home to go to Hollywood and pitch his animations to a studio executive. His aspirations are dashed due to his stupid antics in getting to meet the executive and his unfunny animations.
He then returns home to work on his animations and in doing so has to deal with his irate father who cannot stand the numerous and idiotic things Gordy gets up to.
Gordy still has aspirations for making his animations a success and along the way he finds romance, gets up to all kinds stupid antics and may even get a taste of the success that he has been chasing.
I just want to warn you that if seeing a grown man fondling the "business" part of a stud horse or a similar part of an elephant turns your stomach this movie is definitely NOT for you.
However, if you can accept this in the spirit that it's meant and enjoy really stupid and sometimes gross humour Freddy Got Fingered will definitely give you a chuckle or two.

Audio:
There are two audio options available on the main feature. They are Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. The Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround option is actually part of the extra features and more on this can be found in the Extra Features section of this review under World Premiere.
I reviewed the movie with the Dolby Digital 5.1 option and found it to be quite good.
The main speakers and centre do a great job of presenting a broad sound stage at the front of the room, including some nice panning and directional audio. Audio was matched well with the on screen action.
The rears were always working with some kind of ambient sound, music or more noticeable sound effect such as the helicopter coming from the rear of the room.
The sub wasn't used as often, but there was the odd occasion that it provided some kind of output.
Being able to understand the dialogue was never really a problem and audio sync was very accurate.
There is also an Audio Commentary on this DVD and it has Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround audio.

Video:
Freddy Got Fingered has an aspect ratio of 1.85:1 widescreen and is 16:9 enhanced.
The quality of this transfer isn't too bad at all.
Colours were accurately rendered, didn't display obvious signs of trouble and flesh tones were realistic and natural in appearance. Blacks looked black and shadow detail was quite good.
The picture was quite sharp and offered a lot of detail for the entire duration of the movie.
There aren't too many things wrong with the transfer and the only thing that I did notice was the occasional occurrence of specs that would flash on screen. They weren't particularly distracting and may go unnoticed for the most part.
There is a layer change present on this DVD, but I was unable to detect it.

Commentary by Tom Green -
From the very second this commentary begins Tom Green is already talking and he doesn't seem to shut up. I think the only time he was able to take in any air was when he paused to sip his coffee (quite noisily) throughout the commentary. He falls into the trap of describing everything that happens on screen and even picks himself up on it and questions a number of times as to wether he should actually be doing the commentary.
Having said that, some of his ramblings were pretty informative when it came to the production, cast and bits of trivia. If you are able to sit through the entire movie you should be able to sit through this and if you're a Tom Green fan this feature is definitely for you.
Rated PG Version -
This is a 3.19 minutes tongue in cheek look at the movie that cuts out all the rude bits and is narrated by someone as if he is presenting it to children. It is actually pretty funny after having watched the entire movie beforehand. This feature is presented in widescreen with Dolby 2.0 audio
Featurette -
This is a simple 4.19 minute featurette in which Tom Green basically introduces the various cast members, gives a basic outline of the movie and tells you why you should see the movie.
While not overly informative it is a very enjoyable segment to watch and is basically a 4 minute trailer more so than a featurette.
TV Spots -
The following 4 TV Spots are available and all 4 are shown in full screen with Dolby 2.0 audio.
* Do You Like (0.16)
* Right Direction (0.30)
* Nightmare (0.30)
* Cheese and Sausage (0.30)
Theatrical Trailer -
This is a 2.16 minute Theatrical Trailer that is presented in full screen with Dolby 2.0 audio.
This is a nice trailer that shows a good selection of the comedy used throughout the movie without giving too much away.
MTV: "Freddy Got Fingered Movie Special" -
This runs for 20.41 mins, is in full screen and has Dolby Digital 2.0 audio
It features Tom Green talking about the movie, shows behind the scenes footage such as him and the horse, the sandwich factory, filming in Tunisia etc, and actual scenes from the movie.
Deleted Scenes -
The following six deleted scenes are all shown in widescreen and have Dolby Digital 2.0 audio.
They all have the option to have Audio Commentary from Tom Green.
* Sucking The Cow (0.41)
* Uncle Neal's House (2.32)
* Cheese Sandwich Factory (2.08)
* Quitting The Job (2.22)
* Apocalypse Homage (2.03)
* Reference To Boat Scene (0.30) If choosing the Audio Commentary with this scene, you'll be given an extra clip that goes for 1.53 mins and features Tom Green presenting a talk show host with an actual dead racoon.
Cast & Crew -
Here you can choose six of the major cast members and then read pages of text containing information about them. The cast featured are: Tom Green, Rip Torn, Harland Williams, Julie Hagerty, Marisa Coughlin, and Eddie Kaye Thomas.
World Premiere -
This is something I've never seen before and found it very interesting.
By selecting this option, you can watch the entire movie with the audio recorded from the audience at the World Premiere. It's not something I could watch for long, but it's has a good curiosity factor to it.

OVERALL:

Tom Green....... What can I say?
I had no intentions of ever watching this movie due to the fact that it comes from Tom Green.
I've been unfortunate enough to experience his television antics on pay television and that was more than enough for me to last a life time.
Well, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment sent out a copy of Freddy Got Fingered for me to look at this week, so in all fairness, I've had a good look at it.
The DVD itself is quite a good one with a nice looking video transfer and equally good audio quality.
There is a good and somewhat enjoyable selection of extra features that should help to extend the enjoyment of this DVD.
The only problem with the DVD is the movie itself.
If Tom Green and his antics are to your liking, or you get a laugh out of a grown man displaying some pretty ridiculous acts with dead animals or live animals for that matter, well you are going to love this movie. I'm not going to pretend that I didn't find some parts funny, as I did. It's just that Tom Green either goes too far or just acts too weird.
Each to their own as they say and I can only recommend this to Tom Green and gross out comedy movie fans.
Freddy Got Fingered is out now and has a RRP of $32.95
