Heat wave intensifies in Punjab, Haryana
CHANDIGARH: The heat conditions intensified in Punjab, Haryana and
Chandigarh on Sunday with the maximum temperature soaring up between
one to three degrees above normal in most parts of the region.
The on-going heat conditions in the region have so far claimed three
lives in the past fortnight. The maximum temperature was recorded at
Hisar where the mercury settled at a high of 41 degrees Celsius, three
degrees above normal, the Met office said here.
While Karnal sizzled at a high of 39.2 degrees Celsius, two degrees
above normal, the maximum at Patiala was recorded at 38.6 degrees
Celsius.
Ambala had a high of 37.9 degrees Celsius. Besides, Ambala also
received one mm of rainfall despite that the maximum temperature was
one degree above normal.
Chandigarh settled at a high of 36.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees
above normal. While Narnaul touched at high of 37.5 degrees Celsius,
Ludhiana recorded a high of 36.7 degrees Celsius.
Besides rise in maximum temperature, frequent break down in the
electricity supply at many parts of the region, especially rural
areas, added to the woes of the people, sources said here.
The Met office predicted dust storms or thunder storms with light to
moderate rains at isolated places in Punjab and Haryana during the
next 48 hours.

Interesting post. Is anyone explicitly tying this heat wave, or heat
waves like it, to IPCC projections for what climate change should do
to India?

Well, and here in Germany, it's supposed to be spring, when it usually
rains significantly. But we hardly had a drop of rain in over a month
now and
the next high-pressure system will bring even more summer weather.

Mach bitte nicht den gleichen Fehler, wie alle anderen Hysteriker hier.
Lokales Wetter ist nicht globales Klima.

Everybody I know likes sunny days, only farmers
like rain, it makes crops grow, and gives them an excuse
to take the day off.
