Amateur musician venue in Melbourne

Is there a venue in Melbourne where amateur musicians can play? Ive
written a few songs where I play accoustic guitar with me singing and
I was wanting to see how I go playing in front of a few people. Would
be good if it was an amateur setting so that a lack of skill isn't an
issue.

Billy Hydes in Blackburn often has some amatuer jam nights, just have to
check with them on dates. Some community groups also hold these nights.

Just ring them up and tell them you would like to play. They usually allow
several acts to play per night. Many startup bands play there for a bit of
practice.

It's also an excellent place for a drink, if you're in the area.
