Can the Coppers coming the other way detect it operating, or is all that
just hype to put people off?

Yep, fine until your detector sets off the radar in the Police car and
you get pinged for driving a car with a radar radar detecting device
installed (operating or not)
Knock off 5 k and you won't need it.

Queensland police still use detector detectors but they're few and far
between and aren't fitted to any radar equipped cars AFAIK. Typical
fine for using a detector is around $200 (in Q), but it also involves
a court appearance.

In NSW I believe it's 9 demerit points if you're caught - the highest
penalty of all. Speaks volumes about where GovCo puts it's priorities.

Sure does....says GovCo doesn't want people speeding all over the
place and only backing off when the alarm sounds.

Yep. Can't have people detecting their cash registers and doing 80km/h
through sections of roads that have been vastly improved and then
dropped the zone to 60 (from 80).

The detector is returned to its owner once the offence has been
prosecuted. It's not illegal to own a detector in Q so long as you
don't use it to detect police speed measuring equipment (unless Herr
Beattie's recently changed the law).

alarm sounds.

If they can legally hide completely out of sight at the bottom of a very
steep hill, 90kph limit, then I will use a detector to save my wallet.
Simple.
Of course, not everyone is a fuckwit like you who would do stupid speeds if
they had one.

If they were hiding at the bottom of steep hills, the "fuckwits" like
you should be smart enough to have the fine overturned because the
radar was used outside the guidelines.
Oh and I rarely drive over the limit....I abhor even the thought of my
paying yet another tax to be wasted on Govt inneficiency.

Why is placing a radar unit at the bottom of a hill a problem
Can't you control your vehicle?
