How was the bin full of new parts ready to get melted down.
Pretty wasteful when they could of been sent back to Ford's factory and
fitted to new cars that are being built.

Most of the aftermarket installers are just that rough ,
a good reson not to buy from them , one of the foulcans had tickford
gear and it was shiite.

The bin looked to be full of the XR8 type headers, and if that's the case
melting them down is the best thing you can do to them. They're fucking
*appallingly* bad pieces of shit :)

To a degree, but not entirely.

I've been through both HSV & Tickford a number of times, and Tickford is a
backyard operation with pretty average parts & practices going on. HSV is
marginally better, with a lot of their parts being made in New Zealand, and
is a noticeably cleaner and well laid out shop.

At the end of the day they're both just accessory fitting outlets, but one
is a whole lot more slick than the other.

Um. Was it just me, or did anybody else notice the date on the story?
November 2001? 5 1/2 years ago? At first I thought it was just my
maths - 1962 (engine) plus 29 years equals ... well I never was much
good at math :) But then I noticed the comment on the Holden IRS - the
old POS that resulted in interesting camber angles for the rears, and
then it clicked. What was the date of this thing??

Interesting to hear a 2007 version of the story.

Yeah I know its out of date but it was an interesting read also a reason
why Ford wont lend out press cars to Julian anymore. :-)

IMO some of his comments were a bit silly, eg the comment about Tickford
being just a big shed, anyone whose every been in any car assembly plant
know that they are all just big sheds.

Maybe, but there's no reason to suspect they do a single thing differently
today.

The car models certainly have so most of the article is obsolete but I
wouldn't know if their methods have improved.

Equally there is no reason to suspect they haven't changed, I think they
had a change of management so anything is possible.

quality products.

Didn't Peugeot do the same to him? Speaks volumes of what can happen

Autospeed has been blackbanned by all sorts of companies. Always after
some article that seemed to NOT be a rewritten press release (unlike
most magazine articles.)

Every time they get banned from something, my opinion goes up.

They have been legally forced to pull some stories though. An electric
water pump test springs to mind.
