Hi, first time poster on here, just a quick question...

i have a TEAC 42" plasma TV which ran out of warranty two months ago.

I turned it on today and it was sweet, i had my back to the tv for about 20 minutes, if that, and no alteration to the sound but i have no picture on any channel, no set top box, not even picture through the dvd channel.

have tried turning it on then off again, leaving the power off for a while. all to no avail.

is my tv completely stuffed?

I purchased a Teac 42" SD Plasma in Christmas 06. Picture quality was/is
fantastic, but it died on me just over one year later, no picture, same
symptoms as you. I fortunately took extended warranty for 3 years at the
time. Took about 3 weeks to get it repaired and they showed me the old parts
repleaced which turned out to be a couple large circuit boards. That was 6
months ago and is going great since then, fabulous SD picture. However being
out of warranty youre going to find it an expensive repair since the tech
told me the boards were $530 each.

Yes. Mine did the same thing twice. Call the warranty department. Expect a
bill around $600. I'd never buy another one.

The first thing i would do is ring TEAC after all you would expect the plasma to last more than 14 months.
Tell them like i did the plasma was not of merchantable quality and should of lasted at least 5 years,i had the same problem with LG and i rang comsumer affairs and they explained to me that even though it was out of warranty you would still have a case against TEAC.
First ring them and tell them what you were told by comsumer affairs ,if they refuse to do any thing ring comsumer affairs again and for a modest fee they will send you a form and when you return it they will notify TEAC and will arrange a conference between you and teac and an umpire who will decide on the matter,of cause teac will lose and they know that and will offer you a free repair. before the conference.
