They lost the battle. Late this arvo, the shire engineer's apologist rang back
and admitted they had stuffed up majorly, and the bays would all be re-marked as
a matter of urgency.

(I was expecting to have to tip off a couple of major insurance companies to the
risk they faced, but didn't need that step).
