I know a pedigree shih-tzu seller here, we bought our dog of her and she is highly recommended. Heaps of comp winners in her stable of dogs.

I want to buy a puppy too and after looking at the pictures it makes me want to even more !
I have one concern though - my hubby is a bit of a germophobe and even though he likes animals he is really petrified of the puppy weeing and pooing all over the house. I am really worried that he will have some issues with this. Anyway can somebody help ? Is there anyway to get the puppy to do its business outside in the backyard on a piece of newspaper ? Would i need to send it to a training school ?
I don't mind cleaning up after the puppy but I'm not home all the time.
Thankyou so much !

Training a dog is fairly easy, even you have the dumbest dog in the world (like I do! :dD) if you spend time with, be patient and give a consistent message.
Take them out every morning and before you go to bed to do their business. It may take a while but just wait until they do go and then bring them back inside. Whenever you see them starting to squat down to go to the toilet, pick them up and take them outside. They will quickly figure out that they have to go outside and will sit at the door to indicate they want to go out.
Puppy training is a good idea, they will give you some good pointers and they will socialise with other dogs. You will probably get quicker results in their behaviour as these people have done it a million times before :)
Dogs respond better to rewards than punishment so keep some treats in the cupboard for when they do what you want them to. A loud stern voice will let them know they are in trouble so there is no need for physical punishment. Both dogs I have owned when we first got them were petrified when I lifted my hand above my waist for fear I was going to strike them (which I never did but the previous owners did) One eventually got over it, the other still hasn't, many years on :(

Oh okay. Thanks for the sound advice. My hubby was concerned coz when we stayed over our friends house their dog was obviously not toilet trained. It used to poop all over the living room. It also jumped onto my hubby's pillow and peed on it. Suffice to say we quickly moved to a hotel after that.

No wonder your hubby is a bit worried!
When I first got my Pup the training process was quite swift,I knew when he wanted to go because he would look a bit restless,so I used to take him to the same spot in the garden and praise him when he piddled there instead of near the front door.:pirate:
Spoilt Puppy is 8 months old now-he is a Jack Russell crossed with a King Charles Spaniel.I bought him via Adopt-a-pet (the link on the first page) He has never damaged anything....although he does like to bring sticks and bits of bark inside and mulch them on the carpet.:(
