Say hello to the ballistic Caterham X330 -- a one-off supercharged model boasting a mind-boggling power-to-weight ratio of 448kW per tonne.

Compare this figure with the quotients of the Bugatti Veyron (389kW per tonne) and the McLaren F1 (417kW per tonne), and you'll get some idea of the electrifying performance the Caterham promises.

Sometimes I think about getting a car like that (but much, much cheaper)
then we have 3 weeks of rain with 10 cm of water and mud over the road
and the idea loses its appeal in favour of something with water proof
roof and defogging, and 4wd, and ABS and...

By a coincidence I was rewatching the Topgear with the Aerial Atom in it
last night, when I'd just come home in the driving rain it kind of lost
a lot of its desirability.

but regardless of its impressive horsepower and torque figures, its still
going to be left eating the dust of the Veyron at anything over walking pace
because its about as aerodynamic as a block of flats, and for my money, and
at my age, I would rather be comfortable and fast that just fast :-)

VW still hasn't let anyone get a lap time for the Veyron as far as I
know. Straight line only.

True, at high speed a 7 isn't very comfortable, I've driven one at
almost 200kph and the wind feels like its trying to tear your head off:-)
