Reminds me of when I had to go in on a Sunday and supervise the Linemarker
to linemark the carpark to the company engineers drawings. The line marker
looked at the drawings and said these spaces are a bit small, we marked one
out with tape and put my Patrol in it next to a Landcruiser and had about
400mm between cars, so rang engineer who seemed a bit put off, but said he
had used the local councils minimum standards, so they should be ok, I had
to measure my axle width for him to convince him how close the 2 cars were.
Knowing how badly our factory staff park their lesser value vehicles and
their carefactor to other peoples property, I convinced him that adding
200mm and losing 4 spaces was worth it in the big picture when other staffs
nicer vehicles were involved.

The commonly accepted bay length in car parks is 5.4m, widths tend to be a
minimum of 2.4m wide although more commonly 2.6 to 2.8m - the width varies
depending on the width of the aisle, a 2.6m wide bay combined with a 5.8m
aisle width is not uncommon, a wider aisle can accomodate narrower bay width
or more efficient (and comfortable) parking speeds..
