I recently purchased a WinFast TV2000 XP Expert card from EYO, could not be happier with the service. Good price and prompt delivery.
I am, however, having a little trouble getting it to work properly.
When I capture from a VCR, I can watch the video and hear the sound. It will capture the video, but not the sound.
When I look at the hardware properties, under Device Manager, ther is no reference to the Winfast TV2000 XP Audio Capture device. (I have seen this refered to in the FAQ section of the Leadtek website under WinFast TV2000 Deluxe) Is this needed for the Expert Card? If so , how do I install it?
Is there a huge difference between the Deluxe Card and the Expert Card?
Not sure....
- you've got the record level slider on 100% on the capture settings dialog?
- I trust you have the audio loop-through cable connecting the TV card audio output to your soundcard input... it seems one needs to do this so the audio can be recorded via the soundcard.

Tried that, no luck.
Do you know why there would be no reference to "WinFast TV2000 XPWDM Audio Capture" in the Device Manager?

I do not have this card, but it sounds like the driver did not load correctly. Try uninstalling it, rebooting, and reinstalling. Download the latest driver from Leadtek's website:

I have tried that, no luck.
I tried to e-mail a question to Leadtek's support site (Taiwan) I can't get through. Response from their end was something about being over limit. I sent an e-mail to their US site, no response yet, although that is understandable given the time difference.
Upon installing the driver/program, I never saw the devices listed either. The system still worked though (AFAICT). For completeness' sake, I removed the "misc device type" entries in device manager (had yellow ?'s), and directed it at the downloaded drivers when it next asked.
Also, if you've toyed around with other tv caputre tools, you might have fun getting the winfast ones to load in their place. I had some problems in this area. Perhaps you have other drivers installed (with bizarre names) and thus the winfast ones can't be loaded.
As for your non-captured audio - I REALLY would love to know what your wiring configuration is like - what are the in/out connectors on your leadtek card connected to?

Internally I have the connection from the WinFast Card to my Soundblaster Live! Card.
Externally I have the AV Line-in cable (supplied by leadtek) connected to a three way AV cable (red, yellow and white plugs) coming from the Audio-out (red and White) and composite video out (yellow) from the back of my Stereo VCR.
Should work. I can hear it great. but can't capture the audio.
This is kind of frustrating since I am trying to capture a video of a Jimi Hendrix Concert.
I have recently reloaded all of my soundblaster software and drivers. When I can steal the VCR from the living room I will see if it works.

By the way I haven't been trying any other capture tools, and the device manager doesn't indicate any conflicts (no yellow marks etc.)

IME, trying other capture tools doesn't create the yellow ?'s, it just lists another device if it installed a driver for the card. The yellow ?'s were there for me when I'd yet to install ANY drivers.
What do you mean by "internally"? You have a cable running from one card to another on the back of your PC, don't you?

No. According to the instructions from Leadtek, there is audio cable (4-pin header) that runs from the winfast tv2000 exoert card to the soundcard. It looks like the kind of cable that you use to connect a cd or dvd to the sound card.
Since my mother board had only two connections fro this type of cable, which were already used by my CD burner and DVD burner, I had to buy an additional soundcard (hence the soundblaster) which had 3 connectors on for audio. I disabled my built in soundcard and installed the soundblaster.
VERY Frustrating.

Ok... so that must be a difference between the deluxe (that I have) and expert models. Mine only has the audio jack on the outside of the card.
Let us know how you go...

If you're running under win XP? then that driver is definately needed and is no doubt the problem. If you're running under a different OS then I don't know what the equivalent is called.
The reason you can hear sound with current connection implies to me your connections are correct because the sound is passed through anyway.

AFAIK the deluxe only has a mono TV tuner and the expert has a stereo one so if you record via the TV tuner with the deluxe it will only be in mono. I have the deluxe and capture everything including television from external source through the AV inputs so it bypasses this problem. There could be other features the expert has over the deluxe that I'm not aware of.

Eureka,
It Works!
on instruction from Leadtek I downloaded new drivers from their site, for the Winfast TV2000 XP Expert.
The instructions to load the drivers are misleading. There is no driver for "Winfast TV2000 XP WMP Audio Capture" for the expert card, even though the sample instruction shows such. This will be deleted with the next version of the instructions.
I then ensured that the audio path was set at 'Auxiliary' (I tested it in the FM receiver) It was a lot less fiddly to record sound from the FM receiver than the VCR.
I was then trialed on the VCR and works. I have now successfully backed up my much loved VHS tape of 'Jimi Hendrix at the Atlanta Pop Festival' (much loved apart from the fact that it is SO GOOD, is that I was actually there, as a 19 year old skinny exchange student).
Many thanks to those that showed patience and assisted me.

Well... I've started having this problem also. I often have the sound dissapearing on my system - only way I know to fix it is re-install the same Winfast Audio Capture device, and then reboot.
Particularly happens if I change the config (eg. install new) of the soundcard driver.
Rather annoying really.
WinXP SP1a, onboard AC97 audio (major problems with SB Live 5.1 card), Athlon 1800.

Hi Buddy,
I am having the exact same problem as you have described. I can see and hear the actual capture but when I record it and play it back, there is video but no audio. Can you give me the steps you took to fix it please mate? Appreciate your time. I have the Expert card also by the way.

Just go into device manager and update the "Winfast ... WDM Audio Capture" driver using the same dir you installed the driver from in the first place. I think it then requires a reboot.
If you installed from a combined installer (driver+apps in one hit) then just point the "update driver" dialog at the location where you've extracted the latest driver from winfast's website. In that case, do all the Winfast drivers.
Is that clear enuff?
If anyone knows a better method, please tell.
I've been diagnosing some crappiness in the later Creative SB Live 5.1 drivers (bloody drvldr...) on the same box, so have also been alternating between that and onboard AC97 audio hw/drivers. Yay... :|

Thanks mate. I have got it working. I updated the drivers and followed graemeha and changed the audio setting to AUX and it all works fine. I appreciate your time.

Hi all
Just found this site so I thought That I would add my experiences.
I could get no audio when using Nero but it worked perfectly with Pinnacle 8.
After many emails without success I found that the audio switching was not working with Nero. The only way to get the capture audio in Nero is select AV input on the Winfast and plug the external audio directly into the Line input of the Sound Card not via the tuner and its patch cord. It then becomes usable. By the way I am unable to use the inbuilt Tuner due to the interferance patterning on some channels and constant picture disturbances. I have tried installing in different slots and different software versions with no success. Also I have to detune Channel 7 to get Audio without a lot of noise. The signal strengths of all channels are very good. The tv tuner appears to be poor in signal reception. The uhf channels when viewed via the tuner are almost not there but via an external VCR into the AV input of the card are o.k

Hi All,
I have the Winfst TV2000XP (Deluxe)
I am haveing the same probs as people who have posted before.
I downloaded the latest driver from the Leadtek website, withing the ziped file are 3 .ini files.
wf2kTunr
wf2kVcap
wf2kXbar
It does not have help or any drivers for the audio driver.
The Leadtek website seems very bad as the drivers & manual page always dies out when i try to download something from the page.
Could someone please help me on this?
Or is there a simple driver/patch that installs everything in one go?
TIA :dD
