Question about LCD monitors

If an LCD monitor supports a resolution of 1024*768, does that mean that when I run something in 800*600 it will look bad?

no, things will just look bigger than they are on 1024....

An LCD monitor always looks better at it's native resolution. Changing to a lower resolution will make the characters look blocky, even though some provide driver programs which can smooth edges of characters.
