The SMH's Wendy Frew is freaked about Swindle:
ABC TV came under renewed pressure today about its decision to air a
misleading and scientifically flawed climate change documentary, with the
Australian National University holding a forum to debunk the program.
The ANU's decision comes as rumours circulate about editorial in-fighting at
the ABC about the UK documentary, The Great Global
Warming Swindle, that will air [Thursday] night.
In what appeared to be a defensive reaction to initial criticism from
scientists of the decision to air the film, ABC TV asked Lateline
presenter Tony Jones to interview the film maker, Martin Durkin, and to lead a
panel discussion about climate change ...
The interview is likely to raise questions about why the ABC bought the highly
discredited documentary in the first place ...
One of the so-called experts on the ABC's panel that will debate climate
change is retired James Cook University professor Bob Carter.
Professor Carter, whose background is in marine geology, appears to have
little, if any, standing in the Australian climate science community.
That Tim Flannery's background is in paleontology; doesn't seem to bother the
ABC none.
Hey, remember our fun with the ABC's global warming poll, whereby readers got
all clicky for the "no" vote? Online warmenists are apparently so low in number
they were forced to adopt robotic stacking methods:
The first poll has now finished. The results of "do you think global warming
is primarily caused by humans?" were something like:
25% Yes
75% No
This result was before it was tampered with by an automated process. After the
tampering the results were close to reverse.
UPDATE. Ian Plimer asks, reasonably enough:
There is no panel discussion when the ABC TV religiously promotes the popular
political view on global warming. Why is there a panel for an alternative view?
Regards
Bonzo
