Hi All,

I'm currently upgrading my Hiteker AD600 DVD player.
I want to buy dvd player that supports DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-Audio. Something with good video output (PAL Progressive). And the last thing not very expencive.
Good brand name prefered.

And the most important fiture region free.

thanks in advance

Big ask for all those things.

Pioneer have a unit that may fit the bill, but I wouldn't say it was cheap! The model is DV-677A but I noticed it doesn't have PAL progressive. Are you sure you want PAL progressive??

Perhaps you could get a run out DV-655A for a good price? Still no PAL progressive though!

Anyone else know of suitable units?

Actualy I don't care that much about pal progresive as long as it has good video output.

What's the prive of Pioneer unit?
Is there cheaper alternatives?

Well that is good about the PAL progressive, as it had me stumped.

Anyway, the two Pioneer models are definitely worth a look as they both have DVD Audio playback (SACD too I think). This will be the sticking point on cheaper units, as I doubt many, if any will have DVD-A. Not sure of the price point on these machines, but as the DV-655A is semi superceded by the other it should be cheaper than before.

Goodluck!

What is the price??

Nintaus in my experience are fine for a cheapie. Manuals are a little crapola and some discs don't play, but otherwise ok for the price.

I bought Nintaus from jb for $185

So far no problems plays all disks any format.
Video quality as good as Pioneer or Sony couldn't see any problem at all. Very nice looking player.
And most of all it plays DVD-Audio.

Try to get name brand for this kind of money.

Obviously you can't. But don't forget the name brand people have to pay for all that investment in research and development. Plus they invented the technology, etc etc....

At the end of the day, if you are happy with what you have, then everything is good.... ;)

You have to change dvd player about every 3 years to stay current with technology. And spending now $700 on pioneer player was a bit of overkill for me. That's why I went with Nintaus. I couldn't find any negative feedback about this player.
