Looks like Carlton will have a new coach in 2008, I wonder if Sheedy is
gonna be next?

it was a mess from beginning to end. he should have stayed with the roos.

No more sh*t
uncommited players
lack of depth
Pagan was never going to be Carltons answers to their worse decade in the clubs history, and we still have 3 seasons to go
3 wooden spoons
numerous 100+point hidings
he will be remembered at Carlton for all the wrong reasons
i could think of at least 6 players, that should go with Pagan
Whitnall, Betts, Kouta, for starters.
well done Pratt you deadshit, your money was never going to be enough
the sh*t has been at this club all this decade , finally when it builds up, it has to hit the fan, it well an truly has

God help the next coach,
and Neil Green says the Blues have improved, where????????????????
not on the bottom again, but when you look whos below them, well no point bringing up a discussion, the worse % in the comp
could still finish last.
their backline gets a good working over, its so soft, their soft
how many times since pagan has coached has sides scored 150+
yet they still dont address the problems
after today the clubs gone backwards
Carlton is becoming the club where has beens play out their careers, well done Kouta, your right at home..worthless contribution week in week out
Poor poor Pagan another of the Afls scapegoats
can now join, Daniher, Connoly, in the Centrelink dole cue, im sure they have reserved a space for sheeds too
lets see if the club has the character to move forward...and put this behind them, probably best Fevola finds a new club too, and play in finals footy.
Dennis Pagan you can finally take your ball and go home...

Hopefully that means that Carlton will win their next game and give Richmond
the priority No.1 pick.

The phrase 'not a development coach' comes to mind, for some reason.
Heehee.

I do love how the West has gone completely insane, seriously
suggesting Sheedy or Pagan as Freo's next coach. But their preferred
option is Sumich, for no particular sensible (or indeed, clear)
reason. Or maybe Harvey, because he won a game and wasn't Connolly.

And *this* is an odd remark in the afl.com.au story:
http://www.afl.com.au/Season2007/News/NewsArticle/tabid/208/Default.aspx?newsId=47812

"Pagan presided over a youth policy which saw the Blues spurn
experienced players in the NAB AFL Draft."

Uh... really? In the last while maybe, but I'm not sure that's a
'youth policy'. You'd think this might read 'Pagan learnt his lesson
from early draft moves that involved the acqusition of players like
Mick Martyn, to shift to a more youth oriented program.'

For all our problems we've still managed a hell of a
lot more than one flag in 50 years.

I'm not hiding from our poor recent form, but copping
shit from Collingwood supporters is a bit rich.
Where would you like me to start about Collingwood?

its the year 2007 premierships aside, the clubs in a hole, you know it i know it, and unless there is drastic change the club will continue to linger down the bottom, membership, and Pratt wont save you, no matter who you get to coach, the same results,
i accept one flag in 50 years, dosent hold boasting rights, but the Pies have turned things around , since their last spoon in 99, and nearly folding, the club is financially strong and progressing forward, my point was this decade is a shocker for the blues and gets worse...and another wooden spoon is still possible, lets see what character the club shows in the last 6 weeks
give sticks (Kernahan the job, couldnt do any worse, i can see 1 win for the remainder of the season against the bumblers who cough it up when you apply the screws...cheers......................

they hang their hat on 1 flag in 50 years a lot don't they?
I tell you what, if I offered ANY Pies fan a flag for 9 wooden spoons
every 10 years they would take that every time
and hell we have played in 9 finals in the last 7 years
and the Pies have managed 7 interspersed with years of winning
7 / 4 / 7 / 8 / 5 games, hardly a record to be casting stones at our windows

Wooden spoons are meaningless twaddle
In fact the current system means that winning
more than 4 games and finishing last twice is plain STUPID
because you are penalised 16 places in the draft

Pagan had to go BECAUSE Daniher & Connelly are gone
AT the point you decide Pagan isn't going to coach 2008
you then have to be in the race because with three
vacant positions theirs going to be a lot of competition
to pick up a coach

If we go for a tyro, I would rather have Buckley before Voss

Buckley stated clearly on SEN today that he won't be
coaching next year, so it's an untried coach like Voss
or someone with assistant coach experience like Ratten
or Longmire.
Personally I feel we need a clean out of the football
department, including the recruitment personnel.
Although he's more or less an untouchable at Carlton
surely Kernahan must accept some responsibility as
well as a few others, but it looks as though Pagan
will cop the lot.
Very harsh IMO.

They have both coached their last season.

Although I think sheedy has a lot to give still.. hes a very smart
man. Shame hes coaching such a pack of fuckwits.

Carlton's number one problem was the Pagan/Mitchell situation. Now that
that's been (half) resolved, perhaps the club can begin to move forward.

Isn't that what they said some 5 or so years ago with Ian
Collins and the rest of the Board there?

If so, I have slugs in my backyard who have moved faster than
the club.

Carlton has the second highest membership of the
Victorian teams after three spoons in four years and
missing another by a fluke.
Other clubs can only dream.
We are going to turn a profit this year, we now have
an experienced and capable administration and we'll
pick up at least one and possibly two top youngsters
in this years draft.
The only players we'll lose in the next five years
will be Lappin and Kouta.
Thanks for your concern and advice but we'll be fine
without it.

So you say that with money and membership that no coach could get them more
than 1 flag in 50 years? It takes 50 years to develop a team? With all this
money and support they buy the best coach, but that wont work for 50 years.

You sir are a fool trying to stir shit for the hell of it, let me just say
and doing a poor job of it. Not sure how you can predict what will happen in
20 years time, clearly none of the current players will still be there.
