Subtitles missing from top of line set.

[Ext User(The Old Fart)]

I have been able to watch subtitles when seeing digital broadcast
through my Topfield PVR. This machine is only SD.I now have what is
supposed to be a top of the line Sony Bravia X LCD TV but am astounded
to find that that TV doesn't appear to have any subtitles at all for
digital broadcasts. I hope that someone can prove me wrong.

If subtitles are enabled in the Topfield, the TV should display them, since
they will form part of the image sent to the TV. The TV should have nothing
to do with it. Are you sure you have enabled subtitles in the Topfield?

I would get in touch with Sony and see if there is a firmware patch
available if in-fact subs are not buried in the system somewhere.

Why not try...

Turn on Teletext, put in page 801. You now have captions on programs that
have captions available.

Works on my Sony 46¨ Bravia X LCD TV (KDL-46X2000).
