View Full Version : Optus charging payment processing fee

I've just noticed on the Optus website that customers of a range of
their services will be charged a payment processing fee if they pay
via a credit, charge or debit card.
Has anyone received any advice as to when this is supposed to take/
have taken effect? The website lists a date of 1/8/07, but I've not
received any advice to suggest that a charge has been or will be
applied to my bill.
(And I'm not likely to phone Optus to request it!)

I'll take your word on that, as I've never felt the slightest inclination to dip
a toe in the bogpond.
And I'd venture there are a lot more Telstra (i.e. phone service) customers than
bogpongers.

You get that sort of thing when you do business with a Singaporean
dictatorship.

Thanks Zyxak. Does that address return a valid page for you? I'm
getting a 404 error.

That's the URL exactly as it appears on the bill. I didn't check it at
the time now that I do it gives me a 404 error too.

Whereas, presumably, BIG business customers score a freebie.

I presume you're referring to Optus? Certainly not true of
Telstra or Bigpond.

Sorry, I'm a bit behind the times here. Telstra did not charge PPF on
Bigpond Mercury bills as they did not have BPAY ability at that time.
I can see on my Oct 04 bill that there is no BPAY option, but its been
brought in since.
Rather than farting around now changing it to charge a PPF for credit card,
they arent bothering because theyve almost moved all the customers to the
new Moby platform

Telstra have been doing this for ages now - it's perfectly legal
(apparently).
