hi, just a quick question. if you were buying a hand held gaming machine (psp, ds etc) which would you buy? i'm thinking of buying one, but i have no idea which is best. any suggestions welcome.

I would (and have) bought a PSP, but it depends on what you want from the system.
If you intend on using it for more than games, then definitely the media capabilities of the PSP makes it an easy choice (mp3's, video etc.) but if you are planing to just play games, then you have to look at what style of games you play more and whether graphics quality has any influence in your enjoyment. Make your decision on that.
I've had a go at a friends kid's DS, and some of its games are a lot better to just pick up and play for short periods of time, with very-little-to-no learning curve at all as pretty much all their games are designed for the younger (under 15yo) game player.

Does the PSP still have good support over here or is it going down the same road as the Dreamcast?
I'm out of touch with the hand held scene, but it looks like the DS has way bigger support over here to me.

OMG you change your name so much :p
For me its DS as really the psp just hasn't had the software (but i must admit there is alot on the way that makes up for it). I would wait for the new PSP they announced at E3.

What else does he have to change when no new consoles are being released. He can't change the wife as god knows he will never find another gal more willing to let him use the xbox and ignore her as much as he does :dD
Livvie7586, I hope you enjoy your DS as much as I do mine.

Sweet! Let us know how you go with it.:) You might want to check out the thread where some other DS owners in here discuss their DS gaming. :)

I'm glad you went the DS, it definately is more popular (45mil v 25mil) and has the software edge over the PSP.
