Hi Guys, long time no hear :-)

My remote for the XMS-989 is starting to play up. Is there a universal remote that's compatible with the XMS? I'm hoping for one that can be programmed to accept the zoom capability of the XMS.

Cheers,
rookie

hey jok11n thanks for your reply. Are the original remotes still available to buy?

I doubt there are any left, that player is quite a few generations old now

i have an xmx989 with a remote that works. If you get me a universal remote (learning one ) i will happily program it for you off mine. (although to buy one , you could nearly pay for a new player)

thanks jok11n for the update.

@byrons mate, from your opinion it's not hard to program a learning universal remote to mimick the xms989? including the zoom function?

shouldnt be a worry.

i use a dick smith touch screen remote (really really good for $99 and can run 8 remotes , macro's etc , but i cant get it to run the aircon) and it works fine.

With cheaper remotes though you may need to drop a couple of functions on the face to add zoom function (eg change the volume up and down to zoom , i know you wouldnt do this example , but you get the idea)

If you run a few things ( i do - amp , tv , stb , dvd , dvd/hdd ) a uni remote is the best way to go, just get a good one.
For the xmx though , you will need a learning one as i doubt the codes will be freely available
