View Full Version : DVX888D Firmware Request

My dvx222d packed it in on the weekend (froze in the middle of playing a Divx file and when I "bounced" it, it refused to recognise any disc - No Disc error).
Anyway, Strathfield kindly replaced it (still in warranty); I now have a dvx888d.
The trouble is that although the unit seems tougher and with a better read mechanism, it still suffers from the same issue of only showing a limit beginning of file names and the OSD display by default.
Could the kind person who made the firmware update for the dvx222d also (pretty!) please do the same for this model? I, for one, would be internally, err..., eternally grateful and prosperous, good karma should surely follow.
Thanks in advance,
Paul.
Is it Mediatek chipset?
If so, I would need a copy of the firmware first, and would also prefer to test it on a unit as well...

Yes, MTK, there are a few new MTK based models at the moment, let me know if you want any samples

Just wondering why don't new release of DVD/divx players that Strathfield group brings into the country have long file name support?
Stathfield should ask the factory to provide that as standard.
Save andw doing a mod to the firmware everytime there is a new release. :)
Also save all the users to have to download, burn to CD and then do the upgrade (which has its inherant risk).

Most factories don't understand the need unfortunately

I used to wonder why every second player had the OSD timer on by default (something I always hate) until I started watching TV in China and noticed every second movie channel has the countdown timer going right through the movie, no wonder they like the timer :)

When you are there, make them understand then. ;) Tell them that we want that features here. If needed bring a translator like me with you. :p

I don't need a translator, thanks for your kind offer though:p
OK, bad news is that I have been having a bit of a play with this firmware, and it is somewhat different than other MTK firmwares I've modified before.
So far no luck (on any front ), I will have another play later, but no go at this stage.
