I have recorded DVDs which are finalised etc but not reading on my father in laws DVD player.

The discs are TDK DVD-R and I am on my second batch of 50 - no problems with the first batch except the machine had to format them first which has not been required with the second batch.

The discs are all fully playable on the EX85.

The interesting thing is that I have just copied a movie from one disk which was not readable on my father in law's machine onto another disc from the same batch on my computer and the computer generated disc is reading fine on his machine.

As these discs seem to be formated to the EX85's liking I cannot see how I can format them again - the option is not coming up when I try to do this.

I will probably buy a new batch of blank DVDs and try again but it seems a bit strange.

Any thoughts on how this could be fixed up?

It's not strange, I"ve been recording/burning for years now and still come up with this sought of problem. The best most relialble brand disk is "Ritek". You may find with stand alone dvd recorders its best not to record on any disk which is over 4 x times speed.
I only use the PC to burn disc's for play back on other machines, as for dvd recorders only good for recording TV and transfer of video tapes and then I put the disc in the PC and re-burn so as they play back on most other dvd players.
With dvd recorders you should record in video mode and not VR mode as most players prefer video mode.
