I currently have the Panasonic DMR-EH55 hooked up with an MTV stb which for a cheapo unit draws a great signal & fixes most reception problems, the worst being the ghosting thingo on ABC that suddenly appeared this year, & snowing on other channels. This makes it a pain in the rear to do timer recordings because i then have to also set timer on stb to change channels so im looking at upgrading to a newer dvd recorder with the inbuilt digital tuner, SD is fine as no HDtv yet & nothing in HD on tv worth watching anyway imho. Which model is recommended for the best tuner to draw a good signal even in weak areas? we are in a valley with a hospital on the other side of the main road which is part of the problems.

I got a LG DVD recorder with built in SD DVB, last February. I am very happ with it. It cost about $650 and I am very happy with it.
Just saw This (http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/portal/page/portal/tggweb/store/products/details?storeId=41&groupId=24&_piref58_61126_58_61032_61032.strutsAction=/portal/product/displayproductdetails.do?productId=133872). Being the Good guys, you never pay the advertised price.
I just got the Pioneer 550 HX-S and it has an excellent tuner built in, even better than my previous STRONG set top box.
This Pioneer will also play Divx/Xvid movies which is a bonus, so far it has played everything i through at it.
