Anyone have this on pre-order or will be getting it when it comes out?
Are you hyped or are you over the hype?
Can't say that I have been excited about it at all and didn't even know the release date until this week. I just assumed it was coming out for Xmas and never gave it much thought.
As far as shooters go, I'm totally hyped about getting my hands on Call Of Duty 4. The multiplayer Beta on Live has been sweet and the retail version is easily my most wanted game of the year after Command & Conquer 3.
Anyway, back to Halo 3.
As I said, The hype has done nothing much for me, but I noticed on another forum where Xbox fanboys are blowing their wads over the imminent release of Halo 3 that EB were letting you trade in 3 games for the standard edition, so I thought what the hell on Friday and traded 3 of my shittiest, oldest and unplayed games for Halo 3. :D
Not a bad deal considering they give you bugger all for games anyway and that the games I had would barely sell for just over $20.00 on places like Ebay anyway.
Target have an excellent pre-order price of $79.00 for Halo 3, but with no cash to spend, the EB deal is pretty sweet if you have 3 games that aren't worth much these days.
Anyway, bring on Tuesday and let's see what all the hype has been about.

Yeah I just pre-ordered. I wasn't going to, but I bought the Halo 3 LE controller, and thought yeah I should buy the game. Mainly for Multiplayer though. I won't bother with the campaign until I finish BioShock, which is brilliant so far. (Only on Stage 2 though).
I never did Halo or Halo 2 campaigns either - always multiplayer LAN sessions at redbears.
I did the dvd crave pre-order. Fantastic online store, so I thought I might as well give them ome more business.
What games did you trade away mate?

Yeah, I enjoyed Halo, but did wonder what all the hype was about and I started Halo 2, but never bothered going back to it.
PGR 3, DOA4 and Prey... Yes, Prey. :p Multiplayer was laggy as hell and gave me the shits and I lost interest in single player since having COD 2, 3 and 4 Beta here. With Halo 3 and COD4 coming out and possibly MOH: Airborne, I don't need Prey sitting here collecting dust.
I almost asked you if you wanted to buy it after reading your comments on XBW (the one about needing a headset).
Oh, I'm so going to laugh my arse off is DVD Crave delivered all their stuff on Wed instead of Tuesday. :D Some of those fanboys are already going to have a heart attack over their false hope of getting their delivery early. :D:PI

Yeah I woulda been interested in Prey, but you got a better deal at EB. I wouldnt have offered a 1/3 of a new game. I'm just waiting for play-asia to put it back down to $25. I won't pay their $50 for it, as I've played half of it before. I just keep selling consoles before I finish it. LOL.
But good move ditching PGR3 and DOA4. PGR3 is good, but once you go Forza 2, you won't go back. LOL.
I nearly hope crave delivers it on Wednesday (except my copy as I want it Tuesday), they'll be pissed beyond belief. The fanboyism over there for this is outrageous. Good for a laugh though.

I'm mainly a fan of Halo cause had so much fun playing with friends using a link-cable. When Halo 2 came out, it was just Halo with different maps. Now that i look back at it, realise how shit the game really was... well, compared to waht else is out there.
I dont have a 360, but my friend does, so when he gets back from Malaysia in 2 weeks, we'll play co-op and stuff and that will probably be the end of it. Sure, im kinda hooked with the storyline and stuff, and its kinda like Matrix Revolutions: may not be waht its cracked up to be, but you gotta see it to understand and apprechiate the prequels (if that makes any sense).
After doin work experience at IR Gurus, really saw how big-name, big-budget developing companies can make a mofo of a deal over the release of a game. As im sure you know, Halo 3 has gotten to the stage where it is goin to be a hit whether its crap or not. And as a nonconformist, thats probably why im not admiting to looking forward to playing it :D

I would say there is good reason to get excited, it's averaging 96.2% from critics and has already sold a million in pre-orders

"Visually, it’s not Halo 2.5 but rather Halo 2.75"
Kinda bags it a bit, but you have to for games like this. That is, games with insane expectations

Well, I went down and grabbed it after work this morning and have played it for an hour or so and it's not doing much for me the be honest.
It doesn't look bad, or is buggy or anything like that, but it just feels like I've done this stuff and heard the sounds before and it's not that exciting.
I do admit that I'm not into the story at all and really don't care how it progresses/ends and I didn't even follow the story in the previous games, so maybe that has a lot to do with it.

My mate went to the midnight launch at southland last night so I went over to my his place today and we played it all day on his projector. I really enjoyed it, we played a bit of co-op on the main game, but mostly online multiplayer. I never played Halo 2, and played a bit of the first one on computer ages ago.

Look - i have been told that Halo 3 is little diffrent from Halo 2 and only has a couple new maps etc.. Also the graphics i have been told look dated and not upto scratch and look only a slight improvemnt from halo 2? Is this true? I was going to get a 360 just for this game and now im not sure at all.

Ive only played multiplayer last night. Looks fine to me. Gameplay is typical Halo which is a good thing. The landscapes look a treat, especially in the distant backgrounds. Its worth buying, dont know if its worth buying a console for - but what game is?

I am enjoying the game more as it progresses.
I played multiplayer with Tsargrad and a bunch of guys from another site last night and it was definitely fun. :D
I had some issues with the headset and lag, but I think that may have been me as the others were pretty much green dots all the time and I was varying between yellow and red a lot.
The feature where you can take screen shots from your games and share them online with everyone is a top idea and looking at some from one of the guys we played with last night were a good laugh.

I think the lag was because the host didn't have a strong enough connection for 10 players. When redbears was hosting with 5, no probs.
I read somewhere though you need to press up on the D pad to talk, unless people are in close proximity. Don't know if there is any fact in that or not.

Yep, read about the D pad thing today too. I'm sure it was in the instructions, but I never remove them from the case. :D
I'm up for a game or two any time today and tonight if anyone's around.
Send me a pm if interested.
Oh, I took some screen shots of me blowing the shit out of tsargrad with a rocket launcher last night, but I don't know how to link to the pictures yet so I'll eventually put them here if I ever work it out.

Damn. I shoulda taken some pictures of me smashing the crap out of you with the gun. LOL
If I can get the misses off the 360 I'll be up for some. Ignore the coughing and sneezing again!
