Hi Folks
My Z330 purchased back in 2004 has stopped spinning up disks, pretty sure it's the spindle motor and I'm not up to the task of replacing it so a new device is required. I basically need the same functionality that the Z330 had - the biggest advantage to me was divx playback from DVD writable media and ability to output a raw digital stream from divx,SACD/DTSCD and DVD to optical out and playback multimedia from DVD recordables.
My Z330 was awesome and to replace it I need a player capable of doing the following:
Playback of divx/xvid video and output audio stream embedded to raw optical out including various multi channel tracks embedded in those AVIs eg AC3 2.1 or AC3 5.1Ability to load those DivX/Xvid files from DVD-R/-r,DVD+RW/-RW,CDR/CDRW
Must be able to playback subtitles embedded in stream and external such as .sub or .srt files included in same folder as divx
Ability to playback DVD and output raw via optical for my decoder to process the various surround audio streams
Ability to playback SACD/DTSCD and outputting raw to optical so my receiver can decode the DTS stream - I love my DTS Audio CDs. (My Yamaha CDC-675 CD player can't do this despite optical output)
Ability to decode MP3s, preferrably be able to navigate subfolders as well and output sound to optical.
Must have S-Video out
5.1 and DTS decode capability is not necessary, my Receiver does this for me. DivX playback - I'd like to be able to playback divx 6 and Ultra but not mandatory.
I'd like the capability to playback DVD-A but not necessary since i don't own any at the moment.
The Z330 had HD CD playback - not sure what this was
I'm only outputting to an 68CM display and my receiver does not support HDMI so HDMI not necessary but S-Video a must and while the ability to attach a device via USB would be nice that's not a mandatory requirement.
MPG/WMV/Nero digital/MOV etc nice but not necessary.
Preferred budget is sub $250 but could probably stretch to sub 500 for the right device.
Please recommend me a player
