Which Playstation 3 Model?

Hey Guys,

With a stroke of miracle my parents decided to chip in some money for the playstation 3. Now i don't know what model to get and which playstation model is the most reliable...can anyone tell me?

Well, it really depends on how you want to use it.

If it were me, I'd be waiting for the seemingly inevitable launch of the $700 40GB model. It loses the card reader and 2 of the USB ports from the machine though.

While it only comes with a 40gb hdd, if at a later point you figure out that that's just not enough, you can easily change the hdd on the PS3, I believe it even says how to do so in the instruction book.

I've heard rumblings that they will not be offering backwards compatibility with this model though, so if that's important, I would get the more expensive one ($1000).

In Australia, AFAIK, there is currently only the one model being sold.
