Hey
Today i was looking through the ezydvd catalogue and on the front page i spotted a divx dvd player, i think the brand is JMK and it has dd 5.1 and is $40. For those of you who have seen it or know about these dvd players i was wondering if it was any good.
Thanks in advance
Rom

i have this player, i bought it when they had it for $29.95 back a few months ago, then it went up and changed colour, so far it is fantastic, played anything and everything i have thrown at it, downside, it has no digital optical inputs so you have to use analogue for sound, a few other things, when playing divx movies, the time counter will always show up on the screen no matter what so everytime you play one you just need to press the "osd" button a few times to take it off, this doesnt happen with normal dvd's though, other things, im playing this through a plasma and you can tell the picture is quite grainy even though im running it through component, i tried s-video too and its the same, its as if the player isnt really up to scratch with technology to give out a clear image on a plasma, on a normal tv it looked fine though, finally, in the setup screen dont turn last memory on, if you do i found that as the player tries to remember the scenes which is every few seconds it will casue the sound to stop and the image to jagger just slightly, but when i turned this off it was fine. for me it is fine as it is a third player for the bedroom and not my main player, but for downloading all those lost and heroes seasons (and californication) it fantastic to get them all as avi's all on one dvd disc.

Hi Moby, Thanks a lot. It was helpful.
I might go 4 this player as I'm not going to play it on plasma. Also, can u recommend me some other good players with usb and HDMI for less than $100. How is Highlander with HDMI n USB?
Cheers

the highlander is one of those strathfield car radio type dvd players, but i can tell you know even though it advertises as being hdmi and off course it is i can tell you that it does not upscale your existing dvds very much or noticable to the naked eye anyway, to see a true upscale put a sd dvd into a toshiba hd ex1 player and you will see a true upscale, also if you not going to use it on a plasma there is not point getting a player with hdmi (unless you plan to upgrade later to a plasma/lcd with hdmi in) the parts in a highlander are very, very cheap parts which is why they wont do a good upscaling job (its there more for an additional selling point) as such its not really worth spending the money, spend a bit more and go for the much better pioneer player then you will have the peace of mind that your getting a quality player, as for the usb, i found that blank cds are so cheap that you can put your photos, music, avi movies, jpeg images etc and just use the dvd player, the divx will have your downloading all day and all night so you can watch it on tele, trust me. My advice if you want divx grab the ezy dvd player, if you want a good hdmi upscaler, save up and after xmas you will find some great bargains on the toshiba hd dvd players which can be found right now 2nd hand for $300 (pm and ill show you where you can find them) or the sharp blu ray player retailing for around $699 BN, what this is also doing is future proofing you so you wont have to upgrade in a few years time HD DVD and Blu-Ray is the Future.

Hi Moby70,
Thanks again 4 advice. I've purchased this JMK player. I have yet not tested it. Manual says 'Region code for this player is 2'. Do you (or anyone else) know how to make this player region free?
Thanks,

Hi
Can anyone confirm if this player will play: 1. Subtitles that go with AVIs (SRT, SUB etc) and 2. Multisession DVDs that are not yet closed ?
Thanks
Matt

We bought one of these from ezydvd for $39.95 a cppl of months ago, it worked fine for a while and we didnt use it much.
Then the other day, went to turn it on and it had no power.
Tried diff. power switch, unplugging it for a while and re-plugging it in etc. and still nothin.
Unfort. we have a dvd stuck in it and need it out.
Gonna phone the warranty ppl (Service Solutions, Artarmon NSW) today and see what they say.
Prob just a fluke electronic fault, and will hopefully get the dvd out OK as well as a new replacement unit.
