Hi guys,
I'm getting married this year -in two months in fact! I wanted to know if anyone has any advice. I know most of you will shout out "Don't do it" and I've heard that plenty of times :D Anyway, I just wanted to know if you have any advice or tips on making the wedding fun, personal and comfortable.
It will be a casual, intimate little shindig with only 45 people. No big fuss either -no bridal party, no cutting of the cake etc.
Most of the work is done (venue, celebrant, outfits, invites etc) but if anyone has been to a wedding recently and remembered any cool details that made the wedding fun, please let me know!
:)
Oh yeah, if anyone knows of any good bands or DJ's, that would be very helpful too as I'm kinda stuck on that one. :o

Buy a cans of silly string and get everyone to spray you once the 'I do' bit is done. It was an absolute pisser when I saw it done once and the photos were great.:dD

Depends what kind of wedding you are going to have.... That perhaps wouldn't be suitable for the more formal wedding. The photo's would be great though - (Done by a professional of course)/.

She's not going for 'formal' though.......

Go the silly string! :p
Hmm
Blindfolding when doing the oral feeding of cake (dont know if you guys do that), can add a bit of flavour .
You'll have to 'feel-around' to find each others mounths. :p
BTW, Congratulations Eve

ive only ever been to a couple of weddings... but at my sisters in stead of the original throwing of the boquet and garter (or however you spell it) they had all the single men line up with their hands on their heads and all the single ladies had to pass a ping pong ball all the way throught their pants. from the shoe at one end to the shoe at the other end and then back again! it caused a hell of a lot of laughs!!!

A great band we had at our wedding and have since seen at a couple of others is Doug de Vries - his group plays terrific latin American/Brazilian music, sensational stuff, wonderful vibe.
Try learning a tango routine with hubby-to-be and do a saucy number for the entertainment of your family and friends. You can learn a basic (but still impressive) Argentinian tango from Argentinian teachers on Brunswick Street in just a few dedicated lessons. Very romantic dance, so quite appropriate for a wedding! Looks great on video too.
HAVE FUN ITS YOUR DAY. :D
when i got married thats all me and hubby wanted was to have a fun day and we did.

The silly string sounds hilarious but its not allowed inside the chapel. Maybe we could do it once we came out? The thought of it makes me smile, it sounds like so much fun.
We're not doing a bridal dance/waltz so I think the tango is out. Although, if my partner was into it, I'd be keen!! :p
Now that ping pong ball thing sounds funny as hell. I might try to get that happening!
Keep the ideas coming guys! And thanks for the best wishes :PI

Congrats Eve!!!
At my girlfriends recent wedding we all had those little bubble blowers (you can buy a pack of 12 for around $5 and we were all blowing bubbles and it was so pretty in the light. (Plus some places won't let you throw rice or confetti unless you pay a big price for it to be cleaned up afterwards) this makes no mess.
The other thing she had done was she got a big frame with a black backing and a smaller photo of them in the centre and everyone signed around the black bit with a silver pen it was a great idea.

We also had Amazonian Dancers at the reception (LD mentioned something similar earlier I think) they were great - they got the audience involved too - limbo dances, conga lines etc :)
As a side note, one our guests had to leave at around 11PM to go to a party at his daughters house. At 1AM, the very same Amazonian dancers that were at our wedding, turned up at his daughters party  How spooky is that?
Congrats eve :boonie: And I think your smart not having a huge wedding IMO.
I agree with Houndsy with the bubble blower sounds great, and these days you can't throw rice confetti anymore. Well at the last couple of weddings I went we couldn't and didn't know, so now I know most weddings don't allow it I love the bubble blower idea. :D

Get a giant digital clock counting down the hours, minutes and seconds with the caption, "Time Remaining until Eternal Servitude" :D
...but if you really want a laugh, pay one of your friends fifty bucks to stand up when the priest says "If there is anyone who objects..." (and tell the priest to say it).
Then your friend should stand up for exactly three seconds, then go to the bathroom :p
(Obviously... don't tell your husband...)

word of advice with the bubbles - check the fabric of your dress first. My sister had them at her wedding and hers and my dress both had marks all over them from the bubbles landing on us. Not good for the pics (bride and bridesmaid dresses looked terrible).
The bubbles really look nice though - a great idea. All my other ideas I've already pm'd you. Just enjoy the day and don't let stress take hold. Its a day for fun and love. Don't let anything/anyone get in the way of that.

Yeah, I've heard that happening to other brides. The detergent causes water stains on the silk. A wedding I attended recently had a nice touch on the confetti, making it biodegradable, by passing out packets of rose petals to the guests on their way out of the church. The pics' looked great and there were no worries on the cleanup.
