.... only has a 1.4L fuel tank. WTF? I hope it's a very efficient
engine then (Victa 4-stroke).
Anyone else bought a mower recently?

You don't subscribe to Choice then! Their recent reliability survey
put Honda well in front (percentage who'd buy the same again).
(Flymo's break least often though).

Yep... it's a Toro TimeCutter ZX. She still uses the old Honda
Buffalo occasionally though (when she doesn't need an electric start
16hp vee twin with hydrostatic drive). :)

Yes I have, and my two complaints are that the tank is too small, and
the catcher is too small.

It was on special for $300, plus I got 10 years out of my last Victa.
Not exactly an award winning innings but it'll do. The ride-on does
most of the work anyway.

Rover, with a B&S motor. But it's about 20 years old, so not much good
comparing it to a new model.
It cost me $51 on ebay, (and I just KNOW that someone will launch into a
detailed explanation of why I was a fool to pay more than $20, and he
could have got it for one can of beer and a used cigarette) but at the
time I'd just stuffed the big end on my Victa and I needed to mow the lawn.
And I sold the stuffed Victa for $56! But it had a bigger catcher and
tank. And that's just annoying to have to stop and empty 5 times and
refill once every time I mow.

..oo0000oo..
why catch ? just lift the rear flap to about 45 deg. (so the grass
wont clump.... but you don`t get rocks and leftovers from your last
project making a hole in your shins) and within a few days it`s all
gone.....even better, get a utility mower with a side eject. or go to
your local woollies (aka tip) find what you need and roll your own....:^)

I bought a Honda a couple of years ago and i wondered about the reliability
of this particular one since it is OHC using a belt. I asked about the
likelyhood of the belt breaking when I bought it to which I was told that
would never happen, and he couldn't tell me whether or not it was an
interference type engine. It is a bloody good mower though and it DOES start
first time every time :)

Is Choice still doing these reader surveys, like that one, many, many moons ago,
suggested that the VW Beetle was the best ever car in the whole wide world...
Or was this survey more scientific in its approach and used a geniune random
sample of more than ten people who bothered to respond to the survey in the
first place?

My Honda came with an aftermarket side ejector that clips into the same spot as
the regular catcher. Does a good job too.
