It seems that the Chinese know all about quality after all...

Mitsubishi Vehicle Defects Arouse Concern in China Numerous reports of
defective Mitsubishi land-cruisers have stirred up concern in southwest
China's Yunnan Province, which has nearly half of China's imported V31 and
V33 Mitsubishi cars.

China has now banned the import of these two types of Mitsubishi vehicles.

A local source said on Friday that about 30,000 V31 and V33 Mitsubishi
land-cruisers in Yunnan need to be checked for designing defects and
repaired.

The source said that there are altogether 72,000 such Mitsubishi vehicles
in China.

On Thursday the Mitsubishi side had issued a written apology to all its
consumers in Yunnan.

The company's two service centers in the province have examined more than
700 vehicles this week and changed components for about 10 percent of
them.

The designing defects of the Mitsubishi land-cruisers were found after
many security accidents happened, sources said.

Wow, security defects....does that mean 10% of cars can be opened with
the same key?

I have to assume that you are a retard. The Chinese translation isn't so good in
that article, when they say "security" they mean "safety".

Here is the matter in more detail...

China Bans Import of Mitsubishi's Pajero The State Exit-Entry Inspection
and Quarantine Bureau has announced to revoke the import safety permit for
Pajero cross-country cars of Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation and stop
importing such cars from Japan as from February 9 due to the serious
safety problem of Pajero V31 and V33 cross-country cars.

Several accidents out of safety problems of these two types of cars have
happened in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Yunnan Province since last
September due to the sudden failure of braking.

The announcement is as follows:

# 1. The imported commodity safety permit for Pajero V31 and V33
cross-country cars of the Mitsubishi Corporation is revoked with the
importation of these cars prohibited as from the day of announcement.

# 2. All the Pajero V31 and V33 cross-country cars of the Mitsubishi
should go for an examination and repair at the service station of
Mitsubishi as soon as possible otherwise they would be suspended from use.

The Mitsubishi Corporation has provided addresses of 44 free service
stations for these two types of cars.

It's also reported the Company has so far announced to call back all the
sold Pajero V31 and V33 cross-country cars in China.
