well when you put a modchip in your xbox you'll have to firstly find a bios to put in it or you may get one given to you with it. (if you do we dont wanna know cause its illegal) The bios will allow you to run progrmas from your hdd. These programs can allow you to run back ups and play pretty much any files your computer can provided you have the right programs. depending on what your planning on doing and where you live id recomend you get some one to install one for you and you'll get all the applications you need when they do the install instead of having to download them all. If you want someone install one talk to either motivation or noxboxchip ohh and all most all chips will do the same job just talk to either of the guys ive just mentioned they know alot more than me and offer some pretty good pricings as well

im pretty sure this is illegal, but i don't even think the companies would mind too much, i want to burn copies of all my games so that when someone brings an xbox over i can lan them and stuff..i have a 50 foot cat5 cable thats long enough to go through two rooms, eventually i wanna have like 2 4 person teams, one per room... I also have a very messed up room and i have already cracked like three of my cd's... i wanna put images of them on my computer and leave them there untill I break the originals (because with my luck, trust me, i will) and stuff... so do you have to run it all off of programs? or can you just run them like you can on ps2 chips?

www.xbox-scene.com has some good tutorials to read. Take the time and read them and it gives you a much better insight into what a chip can or cannot do for you. I had a read of these before I got mine modded - and some afterwards so I could work on making my own skins etc

what chip did you get and what good or bad experiences have you had with it? do you have to load back ups from programs or can you just load them somewhat normally

im using a aussie chip dual mod which cost me like $90 and i wouldn't buy another one cause its just way to pricey. If you want to just run back ups you still have to install a dash board that allows ftp. you need this so you can copy games from your xbox hdd to your computer. after that you need to make an iso ( which is easy and simple) then just burn to a dvd. But with the price of dvds burners and the time it'll take to ftp the games to your comp (2+ hours) id just suggest you get a big HDD and just save the games it works out much cheaper and a f*** load easier.

cool, yeah...i have read up on how to make xbox back ups...sounds like a royal pain...but what i want mainly, like i said is to be able to copy a game for a lan party or something. so i figure that running a game from the hard drive and then linking that to another xbox wouldn't really work... i mean, on a lan, one game cant be on your box and then the other on the disc right? by the way, how long does it take to copy game images onto your box? and is it tricky at all?

yeh you can run one version from a HDD a one from a disk aslong as you havent added like a trainer or something. It usually takes between 10 and twenty minutes and once you get the proper programs any one can do it. But the other thing you've got to consider is getting the chipp installed. Unless your a master soldier id get someone to do it for you i installed mine my self and have had minor problems ever since.

hey, i just talked to the guy who was gonna install my chip and he said that the best way to go is to actually flash the chip already in the xbox, so i think i will do that, anybody have any warnings for me before i give the go ahead?

hey, is there any way to copy games to my computers hard drive? im gonna get my box modded very soon, but i don't wanna spend the whole day ripping, so if i could start now and then just transfer them over later that would be cool.... so what utilities could i use?

yeh i would have replied earlier but im haviong trouble posting so hopefully this one will show up. Getting the tsop (inbuilt chip) flashed isn't a great idea. If you do you wont be able to ever play on live and if something goes wrong its a major problem to try and fix. Ohh whoes offering to do this flash for you cause it shouldn't cost any more than about $30 max to do any more than that and your getting ripped. Ohh you cant actually copy to games your HDD on your comp because xbox games are burnt as an iso image that cant be read from computers.
