The first of the WRXs were available with the 4EAT trans in Australia, and
examples could still be found, albeit now a pretty old car that is likely to
have been thrashed. Incidently the reviews at the time indicated a quicker
1/4 mile time and speed for the auto (not sure how the reviewers were
shifting the manuals though). Being a drivers car and the Australian market
as it is pretty much saw the demise of any promise in sales of autos. Go to
the US however and it's a different story. The typical boy racer is only
interested in a 1/4 mile and probably has never driven a manual anyway.
