The Watcher originally posted (in another thread)
Channel 7 around 10:40pm on tuesdays, but it's been off air for a couple of weeks and I think it returns next week.
They basically started with something like 10 teams of two people and the show is a race through different parts of the world, while doing challenges along the way.
The eventual winning team gets 1 million dollars US.
Teams are all sorts of people who were selected such as a mother/daughter team, a pair of middle aged gay guys, a couple of college buddies, two seperated parents, the list goes on.....
I missed the first episode, but teams found themselves in a foreign country where they are all given a cryptic clue to get somewhere. They race to get to that place for the next clueto somewhere else or to do a task.
Along the way(once in each episode), one person from each pair has to choose to do a task and it can be anything from being a passenger in $300,000 sports car to the next check point or riding a camel in the desert for miles , while the other has to walk it.
All teams have to do all this and race to the last stop for the episode. The last team in is cut from the show and are out for good.
The first team in is the first to leave the next day, the next teams are timed as they come in and and must wait that amount of time before leaving after the first team.
The show has had them going everywhere from Paris, Italy to India and language barriers cause problems in their travels and tasks.
The two gay guys are really up themselves and constantly do things to try and stuff up the other teams. It's caused a lot of conflict. You also see the other teams get edgy and fight between themselves.
There's also the suspense in watching them all race to the next point.
I think I've rambled enough.
It's an awesome show and try to catch it.
It has bumped Survivor III to #2 on my list.

It was on last night, and I loved it.
Just incase you taped it...
[spoiler] damn, how do you do a spoiler again...., better leave it out.......
I've travelled a little, and really enjoyed watching this show as it travels from place to place. I can relate to the contestants, as they find themselves in strange places, trying to workout how to get to the next destination, and experiencing all kinds of communication problems & frustrations.
What a great idea for a show, and cant wait to watch the rest of the series.
Interesting to see Jerry Bruckheimer produces it !

Ahhhh!!! Good stuff!
I'm glad you liked it.:D
I was going to private message you yesterday with a reminder but I forgot.
Last night was such a wicked episode and I couldn't believe the ending. I was sooooooo spewing on what happened and I can't wait for the next episode.:)
It's a pity that you came into it so late though. I guess it's better to see some now than hear about it after it's gone.

IS it safe to post some spoilers now? I'll risk it.....
I couldnt believe that mother/daughter team took the taxi !!!!
I was laughing my @rse off when those 2 dudes were kicking back in the hotel room, waiting 8 hours for the next bus. Thinking they were WAY ahead of everyone. Only to arrive and find everyone else was already there :D . It wouldve been SO sweet had they lost due to their arrogance after winning the "fast forward".
Cant wait for the next ep now....

A quick question.
Do the contestants use their own money to travel around, and hope to win the million bucks. Or does the show give them a budget amount of money to work with?

I wasn't sure about this myself til recently.
It looks like that are are given a specific amount of local currency at the start of each leg and it looks like it may be in the first envelope that gives them their first task.
I'm wondering if they get U.S Dollars actually.
There was one episode where a team tried to pay a taxi with U.S dollars and nobody would take it. They had to go and exchange it with a guy on the street for local currency before they could go on.
So, it looks like they get a set amount to pay for the tasks ahead of them, but I'm not sure what currency they get given though.
It's one thing I've been trying to work out for a while now.

Well, last nights ep seemed to be just going through the motions. Those bald guys make me laugh tho' !
It's next weeks ep that looks like an absolute beauty !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think your theory on the money is pretty close, as I saw 1 contestant placing money into his wallet, on his way out (after receiving the 1st clue).
I reckon they must use some of their own money too, as in last weeks ep, the "separated parents" had that whole discussion about whether or not they would pay for a 7hr taxi ride. The woman kept insisting that everyone else would be, and they would fall too far behind. When you are using your own money, decisions like that become difficult to make (if it was all the shows money it's a no brainer).

aaaaaarrrggghhhh!!!!!!!!!
I was sooooooo happy to see those two guys show up last and have the host waiting to give them the bad news.
Then he says that it's not an elimintaion round!!!!
Yeah, those bald guys are an absolute crack up, and I'm worried that they'll stuff themselves up next week.

With the money thing, They get to keep whatever money left over at the end of each leg to use in the next leg, so they'd have to do a bit of budgeting. I remember a few weeks ago they didn't get any at the start of the leg, they had to use what they had left over from last time. This is probly how the americian dollars came into it.
If one team was in the lead and they knew it, they might take a bus instead of a taxi, so then they can take a taxi later when they need to go fast, whereas other teams might not be able to afford it.
If that made ANY sense

linton, do you know if it is considered cheating if you use your own money aswell?

I think so. Not 100% sure but it wouldn't seem right if they were allowed to.
I missed the first couple of episodes, and they probobly covered this topic then.

SPOILER ON LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE BELOW!
If I came here today and repeated the language that I used at the end of the show last night, I'd be out of the Moderator job for sure!:p
I was sooooooo upset at the result.
I loved the rickshaw race, food challenge and taxi race at the end and was praying that the baldies ran to the South Gate first.
What a spew when the other 2 made it first.
What did you think about it guys?
millsy

LOL ! yeah, the rickshaw and taxi races had me on the edge of the lounge.
The baldies were practically whipping their rickshaw driver to make him go faster, poor fella, I hope he got a tip :) .
You've got to admit though, the best team got there. I dont like those gay guys, but the only reason they pipped the baldies, was because they were smart enough to get their translation book out and worked out how to say "south gate" to the driver. Before that their driver didnt have a clue, but in the end he got them to exactly where they needed to go.
Do you know if they begin next week with the same time differences, OR if the final 3 means it's a whole new ballgame and they start on equal footing?
If they are hours behind, you wouldnt imagine they could catch up???

I'm not sure how it works now.
I got the impression that they'll still have the staggered starting times. 1st & 2nd are pretty close and will make it interesting.
I don't want to look it up online yet as there will be spoilers for sure.

Yeah rickshaw race was funny, as soon as they got to the hill the frat(fat) guys were gone!
From what I could tell from the preview for next week, I think they start from scratch, cos the team in first now was saying they hope they stay ahead of team guido(gay guys). not sure though, just a hunch.

This is one awesome show. I hope the gay guys get kicked off tonight. The teams don't have to pay for air fares, but everything else they have to budget for. They are not allowed to use their own money. One thing that peeves me off is the way the two homo's dress the same every show.

No Spoilers in this message.:D
I just watched the last episode and I can now look in this thread again.
I didn't want to take any chances and possibly see any spoilers on the last show.
Now I can finally go and see what the internet has to offer on this awesome show. :D
