There is just something perverse about Christmas in the middle of summer.

BTW, this is *USENET* not the world wide web. Don't get your protocols

Huh? How can you post to canb.general, aus.cars, can.politics,
aus.general and aus.tv and then say 'this is ... aus.tv'?

Its spherical, but not perfect, the Earth is wider in the middle making it

Methinks can.politics was the OP's mistake, and they intended
canb.politics. She's all true blue with that change.

The difference between the equatorial and polar diameter of the earth is 42
kilometers. The mean diameter is 12,742 km. If the earth was scaled to the
diameter of Paul's head (so that he could hold it in his hands and examine
it closely) I wonder if he could tell it was 1/300th wider on one axis?
Highly doubtful. If the earth was scaled down to the size of a billiard
ball even a pool hustler couldn't tell it wasn't perfectly round.

Now I realize that was a bad comparison... if the earth was scaled to the
diameter of Paul's head it would match Pluto's orbit.

Specifically, it is an oblate spheroid.
It's good to be precise.

Gee, I didn't know we were scaling, too bad that does nothing to the
point. If the earth was scaled larger, the size of the discrepancy at
the equator would immediately be obvious. Strange how you never
mentioned that. Much like the majority of your posts, why give all the
facts when half suits your "point" so well.

Hey, is that a type of sphere? In one post you say it isn't a sphere... in
another you say it is. I would say make up your mind but for obvious
reasons that won't be possible.

In your case the term is 'combatively anal'.
