I think its a joke.
Buy a new machine and look in the trading post for someone to mod your machine.
Steer clear of them.
Besides they prob sell a modded XBOX for $750 do they :)

I got my xbox modded at Blade Electronics and they are great. They are extremely knowledgable and helpful. I would recommend them over dodgy trading post modifiers any day. However, it is still probably more worth your while buying an xbox out of the trading post and then getting it modified at Blade.

Blade are a complete ripoff... someone recently told me they were quoted $320 just to mod their xbox with a generation 2 chip.
I'm one of those 'dodgy trading post' modifiers but if you want a working mod with 12 months warranty and software installed for $100 at most, talk to me... most of my work comes from word of mouth so it stands to reason that if it was 'dodgy' I wouldn't be doing any.

Why is it that a lot of people want a modded xbox, ps2?
The only resason in about 90% of cases is to play pirate games. It is a very sad out look on the console gaming scene these days:(

Obviously I wasn't referring to all trading post modifiers as being dodgy. In fact, Blade themselves regularly advertise in the trading post. I think it is common knowledge that some trading post modifiers are below par, and the comment was in no way a reflection on your business, given that I have never had any experience with it. Blade are expensive compared to some modifiers however their service, both during and after-sale, is excellent.

Maybe it's true for PS2, but XBOX has so much more going for it it's not funny.
Yes, it will allow you to play pirate games, but it will also let you do the following....
Play any region of DVD (and using the controller, not the extra remote they usually make you buy!)
Play AVI/MPG/XVID/DIVX movies (and no, they don't have to be illegal, they can quite happily be your own home movies or tapes etc ripped to XVID)
Play MP3/WMA all day long
Run a version of Linux to muck around with (e.g. running a server, it's been done, its' geeky as hell, but lots of people do it)
Play MAME and other emulators

Yes i know but if you want to do all those things, you would be better of with a pc. I still think in most cases it is used for piracy.

For the price an Xbox probably still has the upper hand over a PC for all these functions, plus is a great gaming platform. I have a modded box and still buy original games. Modding your xbox does not mean you are on a pirating frenzy!

Hmmm, do I spend $1500 on a new PC to do all of this , or do I spend $600 (or less!) on XBOX, ModChip and HDD to do it....hmmm, let me see :rolling:

I'm sorry but for less than $600 you can get a pc that will do all of those things.

Not a complete brand new one though... but you could easily get a P4 or Athlon in the 1.5~2Ghz range.

It's not going to be able to play much games though as it's going to be horribly slow.
My PC does it all, but still cost me $1000, and that didn't include a monitor to view it all on.
And I'll bet every program on that pc is going to be legit isnt it? :P
