Xbox Mods in North Queensland

After doing a few installations for friends and plenty of research etc, I have developed enough confidence in my ability to offer my services. I can upgrade your Xbox (up to V1.3) with a mod chip, and replace the standard hard drive with a larger one. The HDD upgrade includes software to allow backing up of games, and playing of DVD's (no DVD kit required, saves about $50).

If you're keen I can also supply the bits for you to do your own installation.

Please do NOT ask me to load the HDD with games!

Pickup and delivery is available in the Cairns area, prices start from $50.

Seeing how I feel confident enough to offer this, I'll provide 12 months warranty on the chip and installation, and you will get the manufacturers warranty on the HDD. Yes it will be a new HDD, and I don't mind if you want to see the installation process!

Can now also mod V1.4 and V1.5 xboxes. Hard Drives larger than 137GB are also supported.

I'm going to be in Brisbane from Wednesday 23rd October, for about a week and a half, and I'm taking all my gear so if anyone down there wants anything done let me know. I can come to your place and can do all the work there, all I need is a bit of well-lit bench space and a powerpoint.

And if you feel like doing a mod yourself I can supply all the parts and instructions, and can even send you a fully prepared hard drive with the software you want installed - all you have to do is replace the existing drive with the new one and its all good to go - prices will be very competitive. In fact in Cairns I can supply a fully prepped hard drive for cheaper than you can buy the hard drive at any of the local computer shops.

lol that wouldnt be too hard since all the shops around here seem to add a fairly high premium to have the parts in stock.

do you sell any other pc parts ??

I agree, it's not hard to beat - there are some pretty hefty margins going on things up this way... had a sob story from a computer shop that it's because they don't move the stuff quick enough - doesn't sound right to me. I was looking for a hard drive in a hurry the other day, Hardly Normal wanted $199 for a 40gb Maxtor... I can get a 120gb for around that price.

I don't generally trade much in PC parts but let me know if there's anything in particular you're after and i'll try and track something down through my contacts.

Normally I get people to buy their own harddrives and i install them for $20. However if you are not in the Townsville Region I could probably send to you.

120gig - $155
80gig - $122
40gig - $108

All of these are plus postage

With the basic install I put on a dashboard (avalaunch or evox) and XBMC also included are some emulators.

I have an Xbox here in Townsville that was modded by Blade electronics in Brisbane it has the 120 gb hdd XLAX2+ chip. The guy that installed it wants another $20.00 just to install the emulator software on top of the $90.00 it cost recently for the software upgrade. The whole process without the cost of the Xbox itself has cost well over $700.00 I would like to able to play games with an emulator ie PS1, NES, Atari etc. Can anybody out there in the Townsville/ Cairns region install an emulator for Xbox without costing me an arm and another leg? Check out www.blade.cc for their prices and if they are competitive then you will be onto a winner.
