Does anyone know WTF is going on with the speed camera on the Barton
Hwy near Gungalin Drive?

There were 3 poles on the median:

Camera box appeared to be facing towards the eastbound carriageway,

one of the small boxes (slave flash, radar or whatever) appeared to
be pointing towards the westbound carriageway, and

the other small box appeared to be pointing up into the air.

Combined with the usual ACT abso****inglutely woeful absence of limit
signs, I passed this pile of shit while wondering WTF the limit was,
since the last sign that I saw was an 80 sign on Gungalin Drive before
turning right onto the Barton Hwy at lights...

They are checking on a new flight path for an extention to the airport

But I have been told it is getting you accustomed to new speed limits for
when they open Gungahlin drive up to the parkway
I think it is 80 and has been for a while, but I usually turn off at William
Slim drive

LOL. Sounds fair.

You mean the interchange to Tuggeranong Pkwy? It looked like it was in
use even though it was unfinished. It looked fairly impressive from Black
Mountain tower...

Mind you, the bit between Ginninderra Dve and the Barton Hwy looked like
shit. Only one carriageway built?

I know William Slim and William Webb. One of my wife's aunts lives out
that way, and we visited there on Saturday night. Unfortuntely, since the
majority of accomodation was totally booked out, we ended up staying in a
crappy motel in Queanbeyan. I took my son to Questacon on Saturday, the
whole family to the aunt's place Saturday night, my son to Black Mountain
tower then the Museum Sunday, then to the War Memorial and Belconnen today.
Aside from having to trek across past the airport every time, it wasn't too
bad.

I was a bit pissed off about the ****ing wierd roadworks shit between the
Kings Ave bridge and King Edward Terrace. FFS, I just wanted to take my
son to Questacon and they've ****ed the roads up completely. I had to go
back up to Parkes Way and back down Commonwealth Ave.

Oh, and I got a few photos of the Jeep at the War Memorial that was
converted to go on a railway line...

The limit is 80 there. I think those "Gatto" boxes are about $250k a pop or
something, so my guess is they ran out of money and ended up with an odd
number of cameras and an even number of illuminators. I'm guessing in a week
or two they'll have collected enough fines to pay for the second camera. Or
maybe not, as I don't think many people speed at that point anyway being
right after a series of traffic lights.

Blame the wierd roadworks on the NCA (stands for National Capital
Authority). They must have too much money and are trying to change the
good enough into their vision of utopia.
Did you get a look at the new bunker-like shelters in Reconciliation
Place, beside Lake Burley Griffin? Supposedly for a kiosk, shelter &
toilets, but cost $1.8 million! Makes me think of Prime Ministerial
excesses like Thai teak tables.
